CAPTIVA OSPREYS - Andy & Lena
I'd been posting in "Forum Friends", here's a snap brought over, for the sake of starting this thread with something!
IMAGICAT
Not sure if we’re allowed to post about non-uk nest here, but I’m sure you will tell me if not.
I just watched the footage from sääksilive #4 from this afternoon (it is on their yt channel https://youtu.be/PhWDpKaWGj4 )
what happened is.. the oldest fledges, then mum starts attacking the sibling, and even when the first sibling returns, attacks that one..
it went on for more than 2 hours.. and the kids were just soo terrified..
Does this happen more often, or is it something very rare?
sorry.. I’m really new to Osprey nest watching (and our little goshawks ofc) and there is so much drama, especially this last week, with the owl attack, the fledging).. it’s just an amazing world I have entered

How awful I think it's rare, BART, but I remember this happening years ago at Wood's Hole...
I posted a video in 2014 but the cam was very, very bad at that time - here's someone else's video from the following year (it beggars belief that she did this again):
Yes, Bart, it's fine to post "foreign" nests - especially in this thread

29 July
Alyth
Just a note to say that I have not seen 3 chicks on the nest together today. No-one spent the night on the nest, incidentally - it was raining.
30 July
Lucky juvie found a leftover on the nest this morning:
It didn't take long for a sibling to arrive and wait... in vain:
Fishes:
The receiver mantling over their fish, feathers ruffled by strong breeze:
I have not seen more than 2 juvies on the nest at the same time. I wonder how one gets source info on this nest?
Tweed Valley
Only tiny bits 'n pieces today:
2 preening, the one on the nest intent on fish:
News about the Tweed Valley fledging
31 July
Still only 2 juvies seen on the nest at the same time.
Lunch - soon a second bird arrived and waited its turn:
There was a similar fish, a bit smaller and not so photogenic, at teatime, 2 juvies were waiting for it.
