Wonderful pictures as always, Clare. Thank you. I've been to that area many times but never to the reserve. It's on my list for next time I'm around there!

Blimey - how did you manage to miss such a gem?  Good to know you'll be making a visit next time.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • We are home again, after a rather wet trip, punctuated by yet more roadworks.
  • Good that you're safely home, but it doesn't sound like you had a pleasant journey. I'd get your other half to put the kettle on if I were you.

  • He did better than that, he drove the whole way, rather than our usual division of driving half way each! He knows I hate peering through the gloom in bad weather.
  • Clare: Great pix - looking forward to the ones of Mull.

What a star.  Limpy managed to drive from Saltholme (Middlesbrough) for well over 2 hours yesterday, which took it out of him - but it meant I managed to drive the rest of the way home.  We were both knackered on arrival - it has been so good to not have to drive any further than the shops today.

  • The weather was not conducive to walking today - but my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed Plan B! Jacket potatoes with smoked salmon and cream cheese, and a slice of home-made cake, coffee flavoured for me and chocolate for her. And we only got slightly damp returning to the car afterwards! Sometimes the easy option is the best.
  • Pat -- Yum!! Glad it worked out!
  • View out of the car window of the sea on our way back - a half of the journey is along the coast which makes it more interesting.
