Been watching the latest test match and England are in with a chance of winning, just have to see how it goes

Annette, hope your sciatica clears up, it can be very painful as my Dau knows only too well. Was off work for a fortnight with it. Could hardly move and it was when we were having new carpets down, mind you thats a few years ago.

Yes, just heard about it on the news. Everywhere seems to be having some sort of extreme weather conditions.
As to Afghanistan, it does make you wonder why we withdrew as it was almost inevitable that the war lords would be at it again once Western troops departed. Feel so sorry for the people of Afghanistan who look as though they are having to put up with the Taliban again.

AQ: Thank you for the article on the Aussie owls!!! That was interesting. I would like to have that researcher's job. The barking owls were particularly fascinating. I hope the scientific community will be able to protect them and increase their numbers.

Annette: I'm so sorry about your sciatica flare up. I know that can be very painful. I hope the doc, the drugs, the frozen peas, and a therapist can get it under control. Sending you healing energy. I hope you can go on your planned trip to see friends.

Speaking of which...

I'm leaving on Tuesday night to go back to Indianapolis for another short stint of dog sitting. I won't be back until next Sunday. Annette, you may also be gone this coming weekend or not feeling well. I don't think I can start a new thread using my phone, and I won't have access to a computer. Unless you want to start the thread while you're on your trip, Annette, I vote that everyone should just continue to use this weekly chat thread until we get back. There's no holy book anywhere that says we must start a new thread each week. You all can just use this one for 2 weeks. It's up to you folks. I don't care what you decide.

OG: I am so very glad that you were able to enjoy a long visit with your daughter. You needed that. That's wonderful!!! I hope you're feeling better day by day. I think of you and Eagle-Eye every evening and try to send you strength.

Diane: I will have my laptop with me so the only hang up to a new thread is remembering to start it, but I can set a reminder on my iPhone. Have a good trip to Indianapolis.

Do you swim at all, Diane? My mother found it really helped her sciatica (many years ago!).

I really can't find words for the situation in Afghanistan. Most heartbreaking of all are accounts from women, trying to get to a safe place - with men laughing at them and refusing to transport them because they are unaccompanied by a man! And don't get me started on burqas .......... why should anyone be forced to wear them? How anyone dresses should be down to personal choice.
