As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.
A catch up since my last post... 21:08 LR2 was continually being harassed by a corvid. Whether NC0 could see this or not, she flew from the birch, past the left side of the nest and landed above the cam.
She gave a couple of calls and maybe, as a warning to her that it was still his fish, LR2 shouted at her (look at the size of his crop!)
She left and headed back to the birch at around 21:13ish. Her landing better seen in the reflection of the water
21:24 LR2 gave up on what was remaining on the fish. As he stood at the back edge of the nest, a cheeky corvid snatched a free meal!
21:27 LR2 flew from the nest (pre-flight pic). NC0 in the centre of the highlighted box
LR2 landed on the birch to the right of NC0
Edit - LR2 had been tucking into that same fish for approximately 9 hours and 15 minutes (including his rest breaks)! There was mainly only skin and bones left when he discarded it

Like my brain at the moment, Wendy! lol
Edit - I'm hoping that LR1 has just gone on a little excursion and comes back to the nest
Morning Patily and all,
Yes, l think it was him but was in two minds due to his crop not looking too full
It was a 6:18ish arrival
8:15 A very brief visit by someone with alarm calling chirps and then away
8:22 LR2 onto the nest screeching. Possible unseen intruder?
8:53 Still there, fish calling
BFN
There was a small live fish delivery from Laddie to LR2 at 11:15
It was flapping around the nest but he managed to grab hold of it
Picked up with his beak
Tucking in
After eating that one, he left the nest. Back again at 11:38ish to receive another fish from Laddie
Collected in his beak
LR2 shooed Laddie off
After looking silently with his fish (not sure what his interest was below/opposite the nest), LR2 flew off with it a few minutes after the delivery. He made a short chirp as he left
He was screeching as he flew from right to left across the Loch, making a slight swoop, and when he landed on the birch
12:32 ENS since his departure
