As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.

Too true, Wendy! lol 14:35ish Goodness, I think LR2 is louder than LR1. He was above the cam and almost floated down onto the nest...screeching!
He continued to call, on and off, until flying away, just before 15:00, and onto the birch - another osprey was on one of the branches
LR2 landing on the left branch
15:02 There was a lot of calling/shouting over in that area

17:05 Fish delivery by Laddie - it was pandemonium on the nest!
LR1 had dropped down to the nest from above the cam when she must have seen Laddie approaching
Pulling on Laddie's talons even though the fish was on the nest
LR2 arrived
Both went to collect the fish
LR2 got it
Laddie took flight!
LR1 attempted to steal but was unsuccessful
Both stood around quite quiet for a while. LR2 hardly made an attempt to eat his fish
After flapping to the perch with his fish, LR2 took it off nest at 17:15ish
LR1 remained on the nest, fish calling...the cam zoomed in on her too!
I'll add a post a little later showing a combination of LR1's close ups. Many thanks to the person on zoom duty!
19:12 LR1 has been on and off the nest since the above fish delivery. At present, she's on there giving occasional fish calls

19:40 Well done Laddie, a fish for LR1 at last! She did a 'dance' around the centre of the nest wondering which direction he was going to land before he did so! lol
Off she went with her supper. She landed on the far left branch of the birch
Just before 19:50, LR2 paid a visit to the nest...fish calling!
Moved a stick slightly
He initially headed in the direction of the birch but then did a right turn, flying over the back of the Loch before going out of cam view
20:17 LR1 was back calling for more too
She landed in the middle of the low part of the birch
21:01 NC0 delivered a HUGE headless fish. LR1 was already on the nest to claim it
LR2 came onto the nest, NC0 flew off
She did tuck in to her fish before taking it away, 21:17ish
BUT, it slipped from her talons and it dropped into the Loch!
LR1 (right) did come back to the nest to join LR2 after spending some time on the birch. Both called for fish
21:28ish LR2 left the nest
LR1 pottered about before she took flight too, 21:32ish
