3.9.21 - LR2 sighted in Southern Spain
25.10.21 - LR2 still in Southern Spain
As the 2021 Osprey season at Loch of the Lowes enters its final stage, it is reassuring to know how very well LR1 and LR2 are faring in the build-up to their first migration. Laddie (LM12) and NC0 (who, it is thought, will soon start her long journey south) are continuing to provide for, and protect, these wonderful (and loud!), young juveniles. Last month, it was fantastic to see the confidence in both LR1 and LR2 when they took to the sky for the first time, as well as watching them practise their spectacular diving skills into the Loch - sights to behold! With only a short number of precious weeks that we have remaining viewing Laddie, NC0 and their family on the webcam, let us hope everything continues to go well.

Morning Patily and all
Lol Patily, your comment made me chuckle!!
I do hope LR2 ate at least some of that late delivered fish as he came to the nest at 6:45 empty talonned. He'd seen a Raven on the nest and flew from the birch to get it off
He doesn't look empty cropped and, when landing on the perch, feaked his beak
7:30 Still on the perch, shouting for breakfish

NC0 was last seen on cam (only my observation) on the morning of the 22nd when Laddie delivered her a headless fish. Link to post
There was one sitting on the cam post the following morning (alarm chirping/preening) but I couldn't capture a clear enough shot of the Darvic on the flyaway to confirm if it was her or not. Link to post
Awaiting confirmation from Lowes
8:04 LR2 flapped onto the nest from the perch, continued to shout and then took off
8:47 A GSW was on the nest
Front, left
It pottered about then pecked quite a bit at a clump of hay at the back right of the nest. It inadvertently slipped off backwards taking the nesting material with it
10:22 Cam operator zoomed to the birch. No one in sight there and it's been ENS too
Left of the nest
10:55 The sound of a helicopter could be heard
Sandra P said:11:04 One flew off from above the cam. It had been there for around an hour and a half (alarm chirps on landing and then it sounded like it was preening/zipping/shaking its feathers occasionally throughout its visit - no fish calling)
I found the alarm chips but no sign of the flyoff, and now I've lost my place so will have to start again - I've saved the chirps but won't know where (in the 6-hour clip) I found them, which would at least have been a clue.
Anyway - the point is - while searching I did find a REDSTART (I hope y'all agree!):
.
AND I found an ant crawling down the lens, so you'd think I could find a hulking great osprey,..
