patily said:What exciting news ofactivity on this nest and news of Louis family Who is the female that has paired with Louis
Hi Patily,
activity on the nest: WT George informed us two chicks were ringed on Pean JH3's old nest this year, given rings LW1 & LW2, so when Louis' two boys LW3 & LW4 start flying, maybe they'll all pop over and pose for the camera. Until then, hope Affric (Blue 152) & YP keep visiting.
We don't know anything about Dorcha, as she's now called, as she's not ringed. She may be one of he females seen briedly on the camera nest in April with Louis, not sure as we don't have any close-ups of her. Dorcha is so named because she's dark, could the female of 27th May be her? Probably too late as Louis' chick hatched 15th June, unless he was incubating while she went flyabout.

New video of Dorcha and chicks LW3 & LW4, thanks Liz!
And one of Louis too. Again, thanks to Liz
NEWS! Louis' eldest chick fledged today, here's Liz Bracken's video. Not the actual fledge, but definite proof as he's in a tree perched by his mum Dorcha
News from George - Louis' chicks have been named! Aspen for LW3 and Alder for LW4. And, both have now fledged, seen here perched together in a tree thanks to a new video from Liz Bracken:
The nest is looking very inviting at sunrise this morning, in case any of the four LWs decide to pay a visit.
Many thanks Geemeff for all your updates and vids from Liz. It is good to know that the other two LA nests have been productive this year, and perhaps this nest will be fortunate to attract a breeding pair next year. Does Pean's nest have a 'name'. Is it Bunarkaig or is that yet another? Do we know what year Dorcha/Blue LR1 hatched and where she came from?
