It has been great to witness Laddie (LM12) and NC0 renew their bond and also begin to make a safe and cosy nest for impending eggs. It is encouraging to watch NC0 much more comfortable in her surroundings and hope that all continues goes well for them both from here on in.

Oh my goodness, the wind has really got up, Sandra. And tomorrow its going to be cold too. I hope they stay safe.

NC0 is so close to laying an egg too.

I wonder how the other nest is faring in the wind?

I'm sure the wind is no worse this year than any other year, but it looks like all the work done to the nest and nest area seems to have left it more exposed.
If the nest was rebuilt by the birds and then allowed to bed in for the rest of the summer without any high winds then it would probably bond to the existing structure and be okay for the future.

Thanks, everyone, hope they are able to use this nest. Sorry, I've forgotten, was there wind damage to the nest last year as well as human disturbance?

Yes Ann.

I found this pic in my LotL file - taken on 2.4.20 I know Scylla did a vid of the wind destruction to the nest that happened at the time

Yes Anne, somewhere on the March thread Scylla posted a video of the wind blowing everything on the nest, just as it did this year, but I am ****** if I can find it!

Thanks, Sandra and Catlady. Hope they do not give up on this nest and move house. As I'd forgotten about the wind damage, have I also confused this nest with another nest with human disturbance, or have I actually remembered that bit rightly--was there also that issue here last year or not, please?

They suffered both, GB - Laddie was a hero in restoring the nest after the wind tipped the top over, but then there were at least 2 human disturbances - we had a kayaker and ? days later, voices and a car door, IIRC. A year ago almost to the day

I found a voices vid too but can't seem to hear anything on it, lol.
