March thread.
This post updated 01 June
MrsG returned on the 25th of March and was joined by Aran on the 29th.
(The beginning of the reunion video is a must-see for all fans of MrsG - I'm posting it today 01 June, to remind us of a happy time before the tragedies of May 2021.)
The month of May brought unrelenting wind, rain and corvids, as well as persistent intruder KS8 (among others) - and Aran somehow injured his right wing, rendering him unable to fish. Within a few days all the chicks had sickened and died. It could hardly have been more stressful for MrsG and Aran, but they are recovering together while the caring Glaslyn team is supplying fish each night.
(The chicks' bodies have been removed from the nest by Aran and MrsG, so we shall never know the cause of their deaths.)
In the right margin of this page are links to Glaslyn's posts documenting the misfortunes on the nest.

IMAGICAT
There were 3 of these but the zoom was brief and wobbly so here is only one. I couldn't tell what the white item floating just under the surface was, I hope merely a feather and not a feathered friend.
Naturally, despite it being a familiar presence last off-season, I can't remember what it is. The only thing I can tell you with certainty is that it's not a British duck because I've checked and nothing matches it exactly.
I wonderful whether there is a family of mistle thrush that we keep seeing. It seems unusual to me to see so many together, at least I don't in my garden! LOL
Some local views since about midday
A downpour is a brewing!
A flotilla of ducks
Rain gets closer
Picnic tables the far side of the VC
Ever more dark!
A question on Chat: Is the sound coming from the nest cam? Only we can hear cows and dogs but not the cars going over the bridge?
16:11 Heather Corfield The Pont Croesor microphone is the one streaming, but it is not near the bridge as we have kept it away from where people might be heard. It is close to the Pont Croesor nest, so not too far away.
When the cam was moving I spotted the PC nest, but when I tried to find it again I couldn't, it was a brief glimpse. I am not sure where it is relation to the VC/cam

I wonder when we'll next see those under water?

Could it be meganser?

That was the closest I could get, SHEILA, but the pics I found weren't identical so I threw a wobbly and condemned it as a non-duck
Sheila and Scylla, Check out Goosander, I would recommend looking closely at the female.

Yesterday:
There have been little birds on the nest this morning - MistleThrush, GSW at least - but needed zooming on for snaps.
Thank you Richard, I always get those two muddled up, if I think of one I have forgotten the other!
Aran is back, or he hasn't gone! He hasn't been seen for two days, and he turned up in the rain about an hour ago!
