OG: I'm so very, very sorry about your friend. My condolences to you and EE. I wish I could say something wise that would make you feel better. Just know that I care.

Annette: I was also watching a live stream of the Iceland volcano eruption tonight. Awe-inspiring. The sound was powerful.

OG - I'm sorry about your friend, it must indeed have been a shock for everyone.

PS OG - I always thought that a field mouse with its white belly was another name for wood mouse !! Tiny things with long tail. My OH tolerated them in his garden but then they got into his potting shed and chewed bulbs. Then they somehow found their way indoors and chewed at a plastic water pipe and caused a fair amount of damage, so I was informed !

Hi, ALL. Weather is still dry here and has been sunny – expect rain to start later and continue tomorrow. J is doing his ironing. OH has gone to print the mag in church, between cleaning the shower rooms. I got up earlier today – actually had some time between breakfast and brunch!

Thanks to everyone for kind thoughts re our friend – there aren’t many like him – a true gentleman.

LINDA – good choices by your OH for birthday and Easter dinners. I have chosen pork for mine on Wednesday – with Jersey Royals. Good to hear of second jabs happening.

ANNETTE – Iceland eruption is spectacular – and scary. At least it’s not chucking up so much debris as that previous one which stopped air travel.

AQ – another good quote which will be useful!

HEATHER – we only once, soon after moving here, had one of the mice inside – saw it climb up the kitchen window edge and through the eaves into the loft. Caught it humanely and delivered it to the woods. We also had some in the garage, where they found the bird feed, and they were also removed. For the past ten years they have only been in the garden, even in the coldest part of winter.

Well, need to do something - no excuse not to tidy my desk now magazine is out the way for another month!

OG - I love Jersey Royals but haven't seen any yet. I remember that EE can get them from your greengrocer. Oh, if only ! I can eat them on their own with butter...
