WEEKLY CHAT (NON-OSPREY) SUNDAY MARCH 9, 2021

  • Gosh, I remember MsD's birth. Can she really be 10?

My OH had a hard working morning, setting up some piping and connectors for their water supply. Next weekend he will go and dig a shallow trench to bury the pipes. His new neighbour is very keen even though he's never had an allotment before. On the other side of our patch, is the widow of the poor man who died suddenly after a touring holiday of Scotland. He felt unwell and she discovered that where they had stopped for the night was an area of almost nil signal for her mobile phone: she had to drive their huge motor home several miles to get a signal and ring 999 for help. He was taken to hospital but died once there, so she is still in shock. She says she is keeping the allotment though, as it will be something for her to do to get fresh air.
  • My OH was tired after his exertions, but I also had a long nap after lunch even though I'd not done anything physical this morning! I seem to be trying to sleep my way through this lockdown.

Much chat on the media about the famous interview, although we dont have a daily paper, there is all sorts of stuff on the internet & on TV.
  • Hope no one is too offended, but I thought this was funny!

  • Lindybird:  Sad that the lady was out of reach of help for her OH.  My cousin's husband died of a heart attack and at that time she had been unwell and was unable to perform strong enough chest compressions that might have made a difference.   I'm hesitant to say any more about The Couple given that I've probably offended Diane and bjane with my rant about 'oversharing' being an American trait. I may be run out of town.  :-)

  • I woke up already angry yesterday about the idea of that woman speaking her mind, and the anger gradually increased all day! We did record the programme last night, but won't watch it till we have calmed down, if such be possible. The day erupted further over our main meal - suffice to say, I was hysterical, OH was panicking - and Birds Eye will not get away with this one! I wasn't able to think type or anything.

HEATHER - I still think of Callum daily - and his poor Mum and the rest of you all.

LINDA - pleased to see your OH has a new neighbouring enthusiast at the allotment. I hope he didn't overdo the exertions over the digging and pipework.

I got up very late this morning - sleeping off mental exhaustion I think - but have had a useful day, as have the other two. OH went to the tip this afternon and got rid of all the tree trimmings. The rain arrived here at tea time, but the wind not too bad yet.
  • ANNETTE – The 3 seconds of fame were on last weekend’s Aussie ABC program called “Landline”. We can view it on ABC iview. I don’t know if you can.

LINDA – Our sunrise about an hour ago, or what we can see from our backyard between crabapple and Grand Design.

  • ANNETTE, I love the idea of a Mad Scientist party. How does that work?

LINDY, Those miniature daft are lovely. I have some in my window boxes which are almost over now. The ones at the front of our building failed to appear this year. I think they get too dry in the summer, as it is south facing.
  • Lindybird - that is a sad story, do hope she has managed to come through the storm and at least she has the allotment to go to.
  • OG - do hope you have managed to calm down and did get a meal in the end even if Birds Eye let you down.

AQ - that sunrise is beautiful
