Poole Harbour Osprey Project 2021 Season

Nightjars!  Not a brilliant display, but there were 2 flying by and we almost got daycam but I had to lighten it a lot.  And an osprey landed on the campost.

What enormouse encouragement this nest is now. Great hope for chicks and a new family in Poole. Loved the video and that of the Nightjars. what great birds they are . Don't suppose they will be able to make free with the nest perch quite so much next year. Thanks Scylla

Alison, if the spot from where you snapped 022 fishing is accessible by ordinary folk (as distinguished from privileged Osprey Project folk such as you!) I hope you will show us where it is when we are down there later in the summer, pleeeeease!
For anyone who may have missed it, at Glaslyn this evening, Aran brought in a good sized fish (hooray!!), only to be up-staged by Mrs G bringing an even larger fish to the perch. Still, good news is good news, whether or not his efforts are trumped by the Mrs...

He came back around 17:00 witha full crop but otherwise I haven't found anything.  No Nightjar overnight.

I did go rather fast.

Ann, I was on Hyde’s Heath at Arne (which is public) when I took those photos. There is a good view of the Wareham Channel from there, a favoured fishing spot for ospreys. However, you need the tide to be in, so it’s worth checking the tide times first. Coombe Heath overlooking Middlebere at Arne is also usually good during the southward migration in August and September.
