27 June
Successful mating in the morning - it took quite a lot of faffing tho:
In the evening, could she see 022 with a fish? She waited about an hour in vain.
28 June
No Nightjar, but lots of flying insects and then torrential (unless it's our cam "enhancing" it) rain:
04:40 there was a cambump with a single, quiet osprey chirp right after.
IMAGICAT
Watched 022 catch a fish this morning in the Wareham Channel from Arne. Some distant shots here…
Birdies LG DU update.
Wow! Thank you, ALISON
I made a bright "portrait" in your honour. Scuse the frame colours, they're always slightly different from the ones I pick.
CJ7 descended this morning clutching some stuff, she only stayed a few minutes:
022 did an on-off @ 12:26, back again @ 15:04 for 6 minutes and @ 16:27 for 2 minutes, did some crop-dropping with a blue throat
28 June cont'd
022 frolicking in the afternoon:
18:23 CJ7 brought a biggish stick:
Within seconds... but it didn't come to anything and they both left shortly after:
[The picture won't post - you'll have to imagine 022 having swooped onto CL7's back.)
Trying in a new box:
29 June
After a very rainy night 022 appeared on the wet nest @ 05:16 and pottered, popped in and out again and then CJ7 landed @ 07:17 and 022 flew in with a FLOUNDER And after a faff, she got it and flew off with it
022 was back for 5 minutes just before 09:00, no further nest activity up to 10:40.
Lots more ons 'n off, separately and together. At least 2 failed mating attempts.
Knocked over by her slipstream - or she made him jump when she suddenly flew - take your pick:
She's just put down a stick, actually:
022 brought supper
On the way in, the fish was disguised by his talon - and look what happened on the way out!
