  • Clare: I play chess on Chess.com against robots. But I'm really, really bad at it. I mean embarrassingly bad! So bad it's hilarious. I still find it relaxing, though. LOL! I play at the first, most beginning level. I only play against robots, because it's not humiliating. I'm fairly good at Scrabble, but Chess requires different brain skills, which I apparently lack. LOL

  • Hey, Annette and anyone else who uses an iPhone or iPad. Per Apple, you need to update your operating system immediately. Just click to install the update on your phone, due to a security issue.

  • The wonderful thing about this thread are the ideas generated by a single comment. Troglodyte – cave – what we each want in it – games we want to play. An evolving story. All make-believe but I am waiting for the next twist&turn.
    Back later.
  • Agree, AQ!

I love baked beans & ate some on toast, two days ago. Did you know that b. beans are good for your immune system? A boyfriend, about 100 years ago, taught me that you can also eat them cold with salad, but its not something I do often.

I play Scrabble but as you can imagine, I tend to invent words if I'm stuck!!..... then I swear blind that they're real ones ... My OH can play a reasonable game of chess, and taught our children, but I lost interest after learning to play and now have forgotten most of the rules.
  • Gardenbirder, thanks for the fun Marimba music. A lovely sound, and as said, I adored watching them swap about during the performance.

Sorry I revealed my lack of geography talking about the snow - I forgot about mountains!

I too, need plumbing - not fond of camping out and roughing it. Perhaps I could bring a caravan and park nearby!! I would want to build a decent BBQ to cook our food on, though I'm not sure what we'd do for meat, for those of us not vegetarian.

  • I had in mind a very luxurious cave. I like my comfort. It would not have any tricky narrow passageways or low ceilings.
There would be a lovely fresh water supply. It would not be deep underground, and it would not be far from a Marks and Spencer branch.
Oh dear!, I think this lack of socialisation is getting to me.
  • Rosy:  Put a Trader Joe's next to M&S and I'm there!   And maybe add Gelson's Deli counter too....

Just went to the library to pick up (curbside) four books I reserved.  Am uploading typically grainy image to show how our wonderful librarians cope with the pandemic in the rain!

Hmm.  Didn't look too blurry this time.

  • GARDENBIRDER: That marimba performance is fabulous. So cheery!
  • Diane: I stopped updating my iPhone software a few updates ago on the advice of an Apple Customer Service person. Apparently, these updates can really mess up older iPhones. What a bore, eh?
  • Linda, I love the poem.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the marimba trio. My smile just got wider as it went along and we applauded at the end; it is a rousing tune and performance.

Mr GB plays a great game of scrabble. Although both of us have grown out of the roughing-it stage and prefer our comforts, he'd enjoy a regular game of scrabble and he usually wins, often getting 7-letter words several times per game--he's the only person I know who regularly beat my Mum at scrabble. But while it is impressive, it does damp my enthusiasm to play the game somewhat! However, I used to be fairly decent at chatting, but the virus is making me a bit anti-social; hope things get back to normal soon.  Perhaps we could visit the cave occasionally, please, cuppa tea, game of scrabble, a bit of talk maybe?! Sorry but I'm even more rubbish at chess, monopoly, etc.
