Osprey Sightings 2021

Very true Ann, but I don't really know if anyone is stupid enough to try and climb up a national Grid Electricity Pylon.

No need to worry Ann, it would be a well kept secret! I still don't actually recognise it anyway but as you say it probably is well know to folks. I was privelaged to be given the location of a nest somewhere in my area, the person who told me knew I would keep the secret. Other locals I am sure would have know about the nest, and last year there was a huge write up in the local paper, front page with photos, regarding the demolition of trees in and around it, so secret out!!

Thanks, Alan, let's hope that some of those 41 are heading for Kielder and points north of that--still waiting for some of the regulars. Also would be great to see Blue 24 and her partner at Llyn Brenig, but if I were one of those two, I'd try nesting elsewhere this year.

Richard, Yep, agreed that it is unlikely an egg collector would shin up a pylon, but there are possibly a tiny number of other uncaring or ignorant folk who might get as close as possible out of curiosity or animosity and disturb and/or actually harm the birds with a projectile of some sort from ground level. It only takes one...

Edit:  Thanks, Catlady, you posted while I was typing.  I didn't actually believe you would let on about where the nest is if you knew--I have complete faith in regulars on the forum, both those who post and those who only read, but saying 'do not reveal the nest location' might be useful for any lurking newbie folk who may have just started off on the wonderful journey of learning about and loving nature.
