Osprey Sightings 2021

Alan, the first one seen was identified by the BOPH team as 'Beaky' a bird known to them for using Poole as a stopover when inbound.

Hi, the bird was not identified as Beaky as far as I know, I asked a question about Beaky on webcam live chat and BOPH responded to that saying she was normally seen early April. (Unless you have seen confirmation elsewhere) Sorry if I have caused confusion!

No confusion Janet. That was indeed the post I saw and coming from BOPH could see no other reason for mentioning her by name?
May be we'll never know!

I don't think they could identify Beaky from one short sighting, which wasn't in her normal spot in the harbour, so I'm doubtful that this was her. I think the chat at around the same time did confuse things.

I went out to my nearest viewpoint this morning after the reported sightings, but no luck. Will try again tomorrow...

Yep, Alison, what Mike said--best of luck for seeing an Osprey or a few tomorrow--CJ7 if possible!
