HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MOON!

The new moon (the dark moon) is 14 December. I hope everyone has a safe, healthy week. Seek out joy, folks.

  • Thanks, Diane, for the new thread.

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Evening all:

Rosy: So sorry to hear about your OH and do hope he improves soon and is home for good. Take care of yourself!

Lindybird:  Well, I tell you, reading charts can be quite eye-opening as my niece found out when my sister was hospitalized a few years back.

Diane: Thank you and stay warm.

Managed to get the back off my laptop and install the new battery without an issue. Thing is, I've got a message - that I've had sporadically over the last year - saying that the computer can't ID my AC adapter and the new battery isn't charging.  This is a three-year-old laptop!  I've ordered a new adapter from Dell that I can return if it doesn't fix things.  Meanwhile, my ancient wind-up laptop is in the wings just in case this one goes kaput before the new bit shows up.   Arghhh!

  • Thank you DIANE for the cheery redhead.

ROSY - I can sympathise with your OH & hospital experience. Why can’t the carer, the nearest & dearest, be granted an interview at least? I was “with it” for recent hosp visits & earlier knee ops and still had trouble convincing nurses what was what. Eg, despite filling pages of forms, one was convinced I only needed eye drops once a day, not 2 types, one twice & other once. Who knows best, my eye specialist or some nurse? (Apologies to those of you who are caring nurses.) I found it interesting to listen in to the handover when info was passed on verbally to the new shift. I dread to think what would happen if I could not communicate.

ANNETTE – It’s that modern complaint – obsolescence.

Online church again. Hot and sticky weather. I have finished my χmas cards and will post tomorrow. Before the seasonal rush, suburban deliveries took 6 days; postie only calls every second day. My cards should arrive before χmas I hope. This χmas.

  • Just a thought

The most beautiful gift of nature is that it gives one pleasure to look around and try to comprehend what we see. (Albert Einstein)

  • Speaking of nature, the Geminid meteor shower peaks tomorrow night (Sunday). A new moon means better viewing opportunities.
  • Thanks for starting us off, Diane. You are a star!!

Hope that the winds are softer for you after all your dramatic weather lately.

AQ, Well done on getting your cards out. You can't have felt like doing it, but now it's sorted. We are now receiving a trickle, both from the postman and from by hand. Hope it's not too impressively hot.

Annette, Yay!! Well done! Just shows, it's possible to do things without so called 'experts' demanding big fees.

Black out of the window, here, and pouring with rain again which the wind is throwing at us....
  • OH met Mrs Back-Fence (next to Grand Design). She had news that the G-D owners were moving in although house not finished. Aha, they must have one of the incentive building grants to be used by year’s end. Last evening we saw a light in the dormer window. We await more lights and activity. There still bits of plastic flapping on roof, dormer & elsewhere. Some painting incomplete. . .
  • Well, unlike here, at least they won't be cold . ....
  • Good morning - thank you, DIANE !
ROSY - Thank goodness that everything turned out OK for your OH. As you say, a potentially life threatening situation. I hope that he makes good progress and will be home with you again, soon.
AQ - it's OK to moan,, there are inefficient folk in every profession. Indeed, everywhere. It's just that when people have a rake of letters after their name there are certain expectations. If only.....
A quiet day here. Roast pork and apple sauce for my main meal. There will be enough for tomorrow, cold with beetroot and maybe some chips.
    Take care, all

  • Good morning, everyone. Very wet and horrible here. Will I get out for a walk? Hmmm ...

Sorry my posts recently have been of the one-liner variety. Can't understand why life has suddenly got so manic, as I rarely have my computer off my lap! I know the days are getting shorter, but there are still 24 hours in each one. Anyway, hopefully things will quieten down soon.

Thoughts and prayers are with all those struggling in any way. Hope to have a few more words to share soon ...!
