Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]
Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.
Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .
Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.
Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.
Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.
A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.
‘Evening all. Never above freezing here today, with occasional short showers of light snow – increasing our ½ inch to 1 inch. But mission to bank was satisfactorily accomplished. Decided to go down early to make sure we weren’t late so just had to go into coffee lounge to pass the spare time! Dinner got late – OH was preparing last of our stored carrot crop, so was down to the tiddlers, which took ages – but great to say we had them through to December from our small veg beds. Son phoned with news of ice in his bedroom – metal window frame warped with heat inside and minus15 outside. Dau#2 is now on the phone from Conon Bridge with her tale of woe.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Heavy snow here.
AQ, Thanks for more funny Tech. Support conversations. Are they supposed to be real ?
OG, I do feel sorry for your son, with those temperatures and ice inside. Makes me feel cold and miserable to just think about it. I hope your daughter's problems are not so bad.
Wendy, Like AQ, I am rather confused about tomorrow's paper or is it a weekly paper due out tomorrow ?
AQ and Brenda: No paper thing was me being really silly. In previous blogs I was stressing about the lack of real paper to read and doing a crossword in pen. We were snowed up for 5 days and I managed to escape yesterday.I know you can read them on line.........put my silly mood down to cabin fever.
OG; I know how your son feels about the cold it was minus 15.5 here at 10am. Tumble dryer in garage frozen....indoors know warming up si I hope it is still working in the morning...fingers crossed.
TOP TIP: For people that like to do grocery shopping on line supermarkets have just opened their slots for 23rd December.
Lindybird: Just looked in (been gone all day) and CONGRATULATIONS. HURRAY! BRILLIANT! What a treat. I tell you, grandkids help us rediscover all the fun in the world!
What's this? Ospreys already? And this evening I bumped into Mike, who runs the whale counting caper and he's getting ready for the next season. To everything there is a season indeed....
UK weather made the news here tonight, along with tornados back east.... Take care all.
Hmmm. Have just been reading back over the posts and have apparently got OG married to the wrong OH. I thought OG and Osprey were an item, but now I see that it's Eagle-Eye that OG hangs out with. Hope I haven't confused too many folks with strange posts..... (Do hope I got it right this time.)
Lindybird Congratulations on becoming a granny. You convey the sense of excitement so well. My PhD suvervisor viz. Sir John Cadogan was also born on 1st December so your grandson will share his birthday with one of Britain's most well known chemists.
Tiger Signature
Morning, All. Snowy Britain is still with us I see, with trains and planes cancelled and lots of roads unavigable. We are not too bad here, so I feel for those of you who are affected.
Thanks to Tiger, AQ, SueC, & Annette & Anyone Else I've missed out, for their congrats. We had champagne last night to 'wet the baby's head', but were unable to share it as planned with our good friends, who are away at present visiting their relatives. There is still some left in the bottle, as I could only manage one glass - both OH & I have had a slight germ which left us feeling queasy for a couple of days: think we are over it now. Son reported in last night, after his later visit to Mum & Babe (he was so tired, poor thing!) and has sent more pics of them, so here is a cheerful one:
-- don't know about being a chemist, Tiger - there are several Engineers in our side of the family and of course I have him down to be Prime Minister already, or at least President of Europe!!!
Good Morning All. We have at least a foot of snow, and it is still snowing.
Linda, lovely photograph of a very happy Mum.
Stay warm and safe.
Keep indoors, Brenda! Can't believe its still snowing in places....
Grannybird! Just come online for the first time since Wednesday and read the great news - congratulations to all concerned. Bet you and OH are thrilled to be Grandma and Grandad. More details later, please!
