Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]
Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.
Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .
Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.
Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.
Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.
A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.
ALERTING YOU TO THIS POSTAL SCAM WARNING.
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (PARCEL DELIVERY SERVICE) suggesting they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911. DO NOT call this no, as it is a mail scam originating in Belize. If you call the no and hear the start of a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call. If you receive the card please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655. For more info see the Crime Stoppers website: http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/crime-prevention/helping-prevent-crime/scams/postal-delivery-scam.
Heard about this through church leaflet this morning so please be aware. the depths some people will sink to is just beyond words. £315 may not be a fortune to some but to others it is their life saving food and warmth for winter.
dibnlib sorry but apparently this is false info. Someone must have panicked and put it into the church mag. If you read what it says on the crimestoppers link you have posted it explains that this was indeed a scam but was stopped in December 2005 and the Belize based company were fined £10,000.
Please read more here. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/pds-phone-scam.html The current spate of warnings is a hoax.
Hoax-slayer analysis:
"This email warning has been circulated since the end of 2005. Recent submissions indicate that the warning is once again rapidly gaining momentum. The information in the message was mostly factual. However, the particular scam described in the message was shut down at the end of 2005 and the information is no longer relevant. The continued forwarding of this warning to others is now pointless and counterproductive."
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Evening All, had a brilliant weekend away playing music. Took my new trombone for its first public outing (but only among friends...) and played my flute when there was no bone part. We also split up into smaller groups from duets upwards and that was good too. Set off in the 2 inches of snow but there was a lot more at Haltwhistle, near where we were staying, and it snowed heavily overnight. Wish I'd had my camera.

I see some of you have been putting pics up of yourselves, so I will have to look through last week's posts. Day off tomorrow, I know what I'm doing! (Might start the C'mas cards.)
Terry in Cumbria
Good evening. Didn’t have power off yet – went back to greenhouse instead of OH wiring – now finished in there. Saw another skein of Geese, but only about 200 this time. Finished enveloping cards, next job is to finish gifts. Also dreamt about nice things I would like to make last night, so decided to schedule some extra baking etc in preparation for Dau#1 & Co on 18th – as much as possible in advance and into freezer.
Wendy – latest I saw about A95 said police say it is open but people shouldn’t use it!!
Terry – pleased you had a great time – and got home safely. I was amazed that you are already able to join the Trombone section – well done!! Enjoy your day off Monday – don’t get too busy!
Got a job to do with OH now, so that’s all from me tonight.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Evening all. Thanks Aqualireen for starting us off and sorry to hear that you have problems with the G.kids. Where are there manners!!!! And as for learning, would have thought that was paramount to get on in the world - who is feeding the information that they are better keeping up with their peers!!! Its sad when they can't feel that learning and knowledge can be so advantageous to them.
Osprey - just loved your pics at the end of last weeks Weekly Chat and especially the one of the robin, so cute.
Lindybird - like the pics of Lanzarote - daughter went there about 3 years back and enjoyed her stay. She also went up to the volcano, not sure of its name, and the surrounding landscape seemed quite lunar looking.
Sat in church this morning, choir sits in the chancel area, and where I was the sun was streaming in through the window and had to put my sunglasses on - could'nt see a thing. Thankfully sun moved round and could then take them off!!!
Saw in the telegraph on Friday that they had discovered the longest chalk reef in the world, 20 miles of it, off the East Anglian coast.. Quite beautiful it looked and great pics of a lobster, velvet crap and gobie.

RSPB Giving Nature a Home
Evening all: Had a hard time getting on this afternoon. Just catching up on end of last week's thread.
Wendy: Oh dear, more snow.... but love the pix.
ChloeB: Hmmm. My printer and laptop are obviously in cahoots.
dibnlib: Love the photo! And at Loch Garten too. WIsh I could wear my hair as short as that.
Lindybird: Gather you did well at the quiz - congrats! I can't eat too late (or too much) or it's all over for a good night's sleep. I wouldn't go in the submarine either - they have one at Disneyland but I've never wanted to try it out - a tad claustrophic. The volcanic shots remind me of pix from the area around Hawaii's volcano (never been there). I really feel bad saying it, but that shot of flowers along a street could have been taken in Santa Barbara.
OG: OMG - you use Access? Can't imagine; seems awfully complicated. TV working again. Cox cable guy spent more than an hour messing with Cox-related hardware and came to the conclusion, after trying multiple HDMI and component cables, that one of the HDMI ports on the television is out. All working fine on Ports 2 and 3; now have to call the Costco "concierge" (sounds so grand) service which provides service for electronic stuff they sell.
Osprey: Lovely shots of snow! Thank you!
Lynette: Not a tan? I'm jealous. And 4'10"? A whole foot shorter than me, which is good for seeing over people's heads.
Alan: Love the snowball What a hoot! Also the suggested remedy for computer problems (always my first choice!). :-)
Georgeg: Morning in bed with tea sounds very cozy.
TerryM: Weekend full of music sounds wonderful. I envy you in the nicest possible way. Trombone, eh? Sounds very ambitious.
Had nice walk around Lake Los Carneros with friend this afternoon; getting dark now; OH in shower and will probably expect me to be in the kitchen when he gets out, so better sign off. Take care all.
Neighbours across the road are building on. Judging by the number of cement trucks (starting 7.30 am), their backyard must be knee-deep in concrete by now. When the trucks disappeared, I could hear the workmen’s appalling taste in music. That caused me to clean the outside front windows the quickest ever. LOL. We have colonial windows, millions of 8x10 inch panes. Well, less than 300 really. In an earlier year I was crazy enough to count them. These days I don’t clean the top row - I claim Occ Health & Safety reasons . Anyway, I can’t see that high and if anyone else can, too bad. All the while I was trying to remember Sunday’s sermon about the real meaning of Xmas. It’s not a springcleaned house, no?
Linda - I’m not bored by your holiday pics. Lovely. Keep ’em coming.
OG - Miss14’s exams are just the end of year ones. Same school. But if she doesn’t do well that means she doesn’t understand the basics which will be assumed by next year’s teachers.
Thank you to all who commented on my teen g-chn. I was beginning to wonder if I was having unreasonable expectations.
Annette - Access is not complicated. I wish I could sit down beside you and show you how powerful it can be. I can’t live without it now.
Another cool day here, min 12 C, max 20 C. One last pic from Al-Ru Farm to defy your snow.
Just for Annette and anyone else having problems with their computer:-
Tech support: What kind of computer do you have? Customer: A white one...!
Tech support: Click on the 'my computer' icon on to the left of the screen. Customer: Your left or my left?

Customer: My keyboard is not working anymore. Tech support: Are you sure it's plugged into the computer? Customer: No. I can't get behind the computer. Tech support: Pick up your keyboard and walk 10 paces back. Customer:! OK Tech support: Did the keyboard come with you? Customer: Yes Tech support: That means the keyboard is not plugged in. Is there another keyboard? Customer: Yes, there's another one here. Ah, that one does work!
Customer: I can't get on the Internet. Tech support: Are you sure you used the right password? Customer: Yes, I'm sure. I saw my colleague do it. Tech support: Can you tell me what the password was? Customer: Five stars!
Morning, All, and an especially warm Hello to those of you in chilly Britain - record low temperatures over the last two days here in UK, for November, folks! Keep indoors if you are in the deep snow! (& more cold weather predicted for the whole of the next week...)
Thanks to AQ for the pretty, colourful rose pic.
Here is my Monday Smile to warm you up- this week, its pictures from around the internet of Men's Novel Solutions to Practical Problems!
no news of Sweetpea yet, you may gather!!! Have a Good Week!
CHLOE thanks for that news on the scam. Worried though as there was no answer when I phoned Mum, tried again 10 mins later and she answered. Mentioned earlier no reply and she said she did not answer as " she thought it was that man again" quizzed her further and she was vague but said it was someone from social services and not to worry. this on a Sun evening!!! Will phone neighbour and social services this am to alert them and find out if there is a problem.
