Ah. Lovely to meet you, Lynette & Dibnlib. [Pics on previous week's thread.]

Gorgeous pics of snow Wendy, Alicat & Osprey. But I bet you are not thinking "lovely"!!! My nearest to snow was some grey slushy roadside stuff in Tasmania 40 years ago.

Tiger I think I have Gary’s puzzle solved. Alas I can only award you 2½ out of 5 on the brain teasers. I was being diabolical this week. Until Friday then . . .

Linda Successful shrunk pics. The walker’s seat - what a wonderful way to remember someone.

Oh no, Auntie, minus temps already.

Alan Love your intermittent "busy pics", the shivery one, the dreaded leaf blower & the migration.

A bit shivery here today, expecting 20 C max again. I’m not complaining. A quiet day for me. Yesterday I helped Dau2 washing, wiping, cleaning, etc as per her list. G-kids did minimum possible. Brats. After lunch Dau & Sil went shopping while I guarded the fort. I think they were out longer than necessary but I don’t begrudge them that. The brats are really rude & unhelpful. GS greeted me with "what are you doing here?" Hello and nice to see you too! They spoke to their mother on Skype - what a lot of complaining & false info. Grumbling that Sil put passwords on computers. Well Miss14 did abuse the privilege. She is proud of doing badly in final exams. Alas these days kids don’t repeat a year at school. It seems it is more important to stay with peer group than to acquire knowledge. I just don’t understand them. Sorry. Rant over. I’ll go and read Linda’s answers again to put me in a better mood with some giggles.

  • Hello Everyone: Speyside is still white and chilly...about another 4" of snow last night also a sharp frost so gutters are full of ice so OH is digging it out so ice doesn't bach up under slates and into cottage. I have been doing drive but was running out of places to put the snow luckily young Colin  son of old Colin the farmer came and dug some out for me and threw it over the fence towards the stream.

Birds ravenous and spotted a Brambling we think it is the first one we have seen in 9 years of feeding our birds. Sad array of feathers on doorstep when I first went out so Sparrow Hawk is not going hungry.

No photos today as they would be a repeat of yesterday and you probably wouldn't notice the extra 4".

As it as been said previously...keep safe and keep warm.

  • Morning (lunchtime) all.  Minus 5 earlier, but no more snow – road looks icy.  Still finishing some cards.  OH pootling about, mainly in loft, laying an extra cable to provide computer circuit separate from house sockets (we are still allowed to do our own wiring this side of the border!).  So I shall be disconnected some time later today!

Thanks AQ for starting the week off.  Sorry the teenagers are behaving so badly for you and their Aunt and Uncle – and so sad that Miss 14 thinks it’s clever to fail exams.  I assume, being “final exams”, that she is changing school this time – does she have any aspirations for the future?

Annette – good that you eventually get reconnected – sounds like you did clever things to get there!  Commiserations re ironing – I hope you find some good progs to watch – if TV is working!

Lindy – well done with quiz, coming third to much bigger teams.  Glad it was a good evening out to take your mind off the wait for Sweetpea – I reckon he/she doesn’t fancy coming out in the cold weather!

George – I had imagined much more snow in Fife, but you are near coast same as us, which does seem to keep it away or lighter.  Our feeders are also busy with birds this weekend.

Wendy – keep digging(!) and thank goodness for farmers!

Son just phoned.  He walked to church to find it had been cancelled.  Roads around Grantown are mostly closed now.  He returned via the Co-op to get extra supplies and met a friend who had tried to tell him about church via mobile which had not picked up signal.  Together, they emptied the shop of meat.  No bread at all – could be lack of delivery, or more likely due to people stockpiling.   There was fresh milk, and he bought other carbs to substitute for bread.  He is having a meal with same friend and family early evening – walking there but getting lift back.

Soup to finish preparing and eat now, then power off for connections.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG: Well done to your son managing to get supplies..not ventured out and there are mutterings locally about the state of the roads up here..I gather the A95 is a bit dodgy but they have managed to get skiers up the Cairngorms..so locals not happy with that situation.

  • Wendyb, I'm a bit out of practice on this site and think I replied wrong and it didn't get on here.  Thank you for pointing me in the right direction for the pictures of the area.  We love it so much up there and would love to live there ourselves but have to make do with hols.  Unfortunately the next one isn't planned until July. Do you live next to the Spey?

It must be incredible with all the snow at the moment.  I just have to make do with any webcams I can find. Upto now we've only had 1/2 inch but at the moment it's snowing hard so maybe it's our turn.

  • Annette : I have been searching for an answer to your computer problems. Have you tried this:

  • Trish2: About a 2 min slow walk from the Spey not far from where the Avon (Pronounced Arne) meets the Spey and a stunning place to be but maybe not at the moment as we are pretty cut off at the moment but supplies are plentiful. Had plenty a practise last year but this being so early has caught everybody out.

Our road is unadopted and the little distillery we are close to and normally tries to keep it clear has stopped production as lorries were finding the whole area too dangerous.

We started with holidays...the rest is history.

  • AP: I tried that with mine the otther week after the yellow handled screwdriver let me down. Now got a nice glossy new red one. Computer not screwdriver.

Yellow rescue heli just flown over very low...road or mountains will find out the Press and journal tomorrow I expect.

  • Love all the wonderful pics and OSPREY the one of the Robin was a dream -lots more please.

OG only use stookie in the house outdoors I use wheelchair and depend on anyone willing to push, though only trust OH to actually get me out of the front doorstep. Church v quiet this morning only those who could walk there or a short drive away made it. When I am up and about it is only a 7 or8 min walk but took the car today of course

  • AQ  I agree with Annette, how dare they treat you like that Grrrrrrr

  • ALAN    ouch  that hurt.   No, really love your funny and appropriate animations.
