And wasn't the tennis absolutely brilliant ChrisyB.  The best match I have watched in this competition!

There is a bird programme "Johnny Kingdom's Year with the Birds" on from 7.30pm to 8.00pm on BBC2.

It was good Tiger, I really enjoyed it. Loved how the wrens piled into that little box to keep warm. Amazing how many squeezed in :)

Also lovely to see the woodpeckers. I saw a male just the other day on our friend Pat's peanut feeder.  A first for me at such close quarters.

ChloeB: There is more information about Irish Whisky on the box which is in the shed so will look at it tomorrow,I got mine at Bristool airport.

My woodburner has a lined chimney and the guys drilled through 3" walls to put an opening at the back so when we do have it swept it is from the outside.

I am totally veggie no fish or chicken..health reason as had breast cancer 9 years ago..but cook 2 different meals each night and O.H. loves his crackling.

I love visiting Arne...look at their Blog...2 guys Robert and Paul just love the place. I am due a visit but not until I visit my youngest in the New Year. 

Wendy – was the new tractor “man enough” to help the grain lorry which got stuck – or did you have to go out and push (only joking!)?  What wonderful photos, they just keep coming, and getting better and better – we hardly ever get enough here to look good – and what we have from last night is just enough to have thawed on the road today and now refreezing into ice.  But what hard work it is for you both, to ensure last year’s problems don’t happen again!  Saw on news that there were skiers on Cairngorm slopes today – but don’t know about The Lecht.  Since your water is so good, could you make your own Whisky?  Perhaps I just shouldn’t ask!

Lindy – forecast said snow will reach Manchester area tomorrow – shouted at it that you have some already!  Congrats on getting the photos on – lovely seat on Teggs Nose, and beautiful holiday flowers.  Hope you are enjoying the quiz night.

Joan – the Skemmies (love that name ) here have come out of town today with the snow – and also because it is weekend no lunchtime litter from Academy kids.

Brenda – did I get it wrong – I thought Margo was in London Friday night and back 2am today!  Sorry about your back – good you felt it before setting off into Kent – do take care and pamper yourself – or better still get someone else to pamper you!

Alicat – snow-covered giant mushrooms in your front garden?!!

Tiger – I use an Access Database for our address book (personal, business .. all combined) and have  a query for tick in Christmas Card column – then do a mail merge and print on Avery Labels – very quick.  Save Master Label document so it can be reused to create next year’s with two clicks, even if data has changed.  Finished printing Christmas letter – took ages due to all the pics included – now intermittently stuffing envelopes.  You mentioned Nova Scotia – where is Kelly (Kellog) haven’t seen her for ages.  Can I sneak in on Gary’s puzzle? remember learning that list in 3^rd year Geography!!  Like the geese-watching animation – had 1500 Barnacles fly over the garden today!!  I don’t mind these animations within messages as they are more temporary than the fast moving signatures.

Auntie – we are only down to minus 4 at night, and just above freezing daytime.  Can’t imagine minus11.   We were doing a couple of jobs in the (heated) greenhouse this afternoon!

Alan – sorry I underestimated The Thunderdog’s intelligence!  I love the animated leaf blower!  It wasn’t there earlier, but has appeared now.

Sheila – sorry about your aged Aunt found at the foot of the stairs – how long had she been there?  I do hope she will be okay.

Annette – still having machinery problems?  It’s hard living in the modern world; we just expect everything to work smoothly.  Sounds like you had a busy day planned after breakfast.

Dibnlib – I just batten down the hatches in this weather, especially when hearing of accidents in the area, so was very surprised you risked going out with stookie – but glad you enjoyed it.  Nice photo of you at LG.

Chloe – pleased you watched Johnny Kingdom – will have to look for it in I-player as I only just saw Tiger’s post.  I love his stuff.  I think my parents might have known him when they lived near Exmoor. 

Phew – a long read so a long write!  Son phoned this evening – reckons his part of Grantown has eighteen inches of white stuff – hasn’t been outside, so measured against height of local kids out with sleds!!  Things to finish, so that’s probably all from me until next week (ie tomorrow!).  Good night.

Original Goldfinch:My water goes to make Cragganmore Whisky so I think they have the patent on that one but it is amazing and totally free..even better. I even get the whisky cheap..long story. 

The new tractor was not up to the job but young Colin son of old Colin our local farmer has a bigger and better one and he pushed him up the hill. Best bit was he was a new driver and nobody told him the still was closed I felt really sorry for him...bless.

OH thought you might be bored with my pictures of the snow..he is ..not of the pictures but of the snow.

Your son is just up(no down) the road from me so if he is like me he is keeping off the road...had a bit of a hairy incident on Thursday with an arrogant Range Rover driver...I felt so sorry for the lorry driver he very nearly hit. 

OG, Margo wrote yesterday that she was going to London tomorrow ( Saturday) and would not be back home untill 2am Sunday. I have just checked back to her post. She says herself that she is not the best passenger in the car.

Cockbridge toTomintoul road( snow gates) closed so the Lecht a no go I should think for skiing.

Hi all, a lot to catch up on.

Wendy B - love the pics of your snowbound home and area and especially the one of the Spey - so fairytale looking.  I bet you would rather it wasn't snowing as much.  It is very early this year, they are saying its the earliest for 17 years!!    We have just had a sprinkling down here in Northants, nothing to write home about.  Just hope it stays that way for tomorrow as we have church and have to travel across country a bit to get to it. Anyway, what will be, will be.

All this talk about whisky its a wonder we are not drunk, hiccup, hiccup, about it!!!!!   Seriously though, its makes for fascinating reading.

Pic of me - its not a tan just natural colouring and I'm only 4' 10" so its a good job you don't see my full length as I am short and dumpy.
