Evening all: Off to check previous week's posts.
TERRY M thanks for the link about Culloden Woods. They have been doing thinning work since early Sept, but so far it hasn't been a problem as they have only closed small areas of the wood (this has meant that when you go out for a walk you are never quite sure whatt route you will be taking) Could get more difficult though when the felling starts.
Have saved those wonderful pics as a favourite (sorry but can't remember his first name just that his surname is Barlow.
TIGER what a beautiful pic of the puppy. Love the name too
Hello Everyone: Happy Saturday!
Rather dull skies here but at least its stopped raining - yesterday was like The Floods when Noah started building! (what possessed someone to decide to try to hold the Ryder Cup in October in Wales defeats me!) Nice to see you on here, Liz - keep on reading! I too have worried about Alan & his lovely wife, hope they are coping OK after their loss.
Thanks to Tiger for the great link to the "stunning pictures" they are truly wonderful. And also great puppy picture. So cute - what is nicer than a lab puppy??!!
Also can't get enough pics of the lovely Dillon! dibnlib....
Glad to hear that your family visit went well, Gary. And that Heather has welcomed her brave son in Law safely back into the family once again: great excuse for a huge celebration for them all.
Sorry to hear there has been a hiccup for your son, OG, with the flat move -- at least he can now hang on and hope to move in eventually.
Doesn't sound much fun being blasted, Annette - hope its not too sore now its over....
Another busy day ahead for us, must get going - our phone is now 'on the blink' as it stopped ringing properly the other day, and friends tell us it just crackles when they ring, so have a borrowed one plugged in just now until we can buy a replacement. So annoying that these technical things cost so much to take for repair that you have to scrap them and buy another...
Have a Good Weekend, All.
Hi everyone.Sorry I've not posted for the past few days but it seems that time has just melted into the background. Plus the fact everytime I thought about sitting down and posting, a domestic chore of some sort would need done and I'd end up forgetting about posting. Weather's sunny here at the moment, although slightly chilly, and I'm happy to report seeing my first Blackbird in a few weeks.I have to report there was a fight in my local fish & chips shop, the other day. Apparently a fish got battered. Thanks for all the posts, pics, links etc. Appologies for the lack of individual replies.A very Happy Saturday, and Happy New Month to everyone.Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Thanks, Paul -- I did hear that someone had had his chips!!!!! - or was it just a fishy tail???
Unknown said: OG - never far away from the weekly chat pages - usually reading 2 or 3 times a day, but keeping my head just below the parapet!! All entries from everyone continue to be interesting and informative. Does anyone have any news about Caerann (Chicago Illinois) - she has been an absentee for most of this year I think. Glad your Son in Law back home safely HeatherB. Will continue to read entries quietly again!!

Morning all and happy Saturday from a sunny but cool CT. We should be drying out from the rain today and maybe a frost sometime! Nice weekend planed, which means nothing is planned. Bike ride with OH/maybe a run for me, OH rides Lida, the horse etc. Hope Everyone else is doing Ok today
AQ, sorry Jasper is scratching the furniture, especially when he has 2 posts for that purpose! Seems like it's getting warm your way already.
OG, sorry your son phones you when you can't do anything:) sure he appreciates someone to talk to about the stuff. You asked about if i do all the sightseeing stuff with the different visitors. We tend to have 4 "lots" that come each year and have done so since we moved here almost 10 years ago. So we have done the main "touristy" things with them all anyway so when they come we do local stuff, mosty. Also, our 10 year old niece is coming this time so I have an excuse to do other sorts of things with her/them. She loves all the Halloween stuff so we do lots of that, corn mazes etc.
Annette, hope you have a good trip and so sorry about the GD. Hope the trip to see family really helps her.
Liz, enjoyed reading your entry:)
Lindy, have a nice weekend and sorry about the phone. Very frustrating.
Paul/Linda, LOLOL, made me chuckle!
Heather, how was the homecoming? Hope it was everything hoped for:)
Good Afternoon All, just lost a very long post because I hit the ctrl button instead of the shift. I want to cry.
We finished helping Brother with his house move yesterday but didn't get home 'till 11pm. Drive home wasn't pleasant courtesy of standing water and very heavy rain. We are helping at Aylesford Priory later today and all day tomorrow. The forecast is not good,, with more strong winds and heavy rain, but as people travel from all over the country, nothing can be cancelled. It is about a 50 mile drive for us from here, which is mostly on dark, unllit roads, so more unpleasant drives when coming back home.
OG, It must be so annoying for your son having his move cancelled. Our daughter has exchanged contracts at last, but only after her solicitor said that if they didn't exchange by yesterday and agree a completion date, which had to be before the 21st Oct., our daughter would withdraw from the deal. Her buyer just kept moving the date foreward and the owner of the flat she wanted to buy suddenly announced that he didn't wish to exchange untill the end of November ! This has gone on for over three months now, so something had to be done to bring it all to a conclusion.
Dibnlib, Dillon becomes even lovelier with each photograph. Keep posting them.
Tiger, Your puppy photograph could encourage me to get another dog. I love the heron photographs.
Heather, I hope your s-i-l's arrival was on time.
Margo, I hope all is well with you in Poole, re the toilet, although I see there are warnings for this end of the country for tonight/ tomorrow.
Liz, Lovely to see you this morning. Do keep popping in to say Hello, we do like to hear from you.
Alan, Just want to say Hello and do hope you are able to join us again shortly.
Paul, Lovely to hear from you but that old joke is not up to your usual standard.
Linda, We found one of phones was stopping incoming calls and all callers were told that the line was engaged. We had to test each phone to find which one it was and then replace it.
Just had another phone call from our Son in China. He is in Shanghai now for a few days, but it still hasn't stopped raining there either. He went to see the Panda's a couple of days ago and the Chinese were charging £100 pounds to allow you to stroke the panda's He and his wife declined the invitation !!
OH tells me that we must leave, so do enjoy your weekend.
Afternoon everyone
Sorry I have not been on here this week. Had a terrible experience with computer virus and had to wipe hard disk. Lost some family photos which I should have backed up weeks ago but hadn't got round to doing so have been feeling a bit low. Slowly finding my way back but of course all my 'favourites', etc have been erased :(
Steed has been helping me with that and its a beautiful autumnal day hear which has cheered me up. Off to read back and catch up on everyone's week.
Hello all - Thank you for all your good wishes re SiL's return. I know that they are back, but told daughter last evening not to phone me as a matter of urgency but to enjoy being together as a family. I am desperate to speak to them. I know that I won't be able to keep this up so if I don't hear by late afternoon I will just HAVE to phone them. I am off out on a shopping mission shortly. Hope the rain stays away.
'See you' later
