Hi all. Off to read last few posts of previous week.
Morning all: Thanks for supportive noises re granddaughter - I was so afraid she'd get pregnant and when she called me and said she was finally leaving him, I said, "Well, thank heaven you didn't have a kid." One week later.....oh dear. She's just too far away from us though, and since her OH claims to want to be "involved" with the child, he can prevent her from leaving Arizona. Ugh. THis all happened a month or so ago but I was so upset couldn't "talk" about it until now. Must say that reading everyone elses's blogs during that month really helped me keep my emotional head above water and realize life was still going on! Anyway, that's when my daughter flew to see her; then OH and I drove out with her stuff and made sure she had access to good legal advice given that her OH and his family are not known for clean dealing, so to speak, or being responsible. My daughter will be going out there for a few months to help out when the time comes. Anyway, enough of all that. Again, thanks for support folks.
In the meantime, computer still not behaving.
Diane: I'll mention your brother's experience when I tootle off to Best Buy later. Have to finish up garden planting plan with landscape lady so must get busy on that. Love that turkey!
Uh oh OH, needs computer for a minute, back later.
Hello Annette - I must apologise for not realising that you have got some very worrying problems going on. I was so smug, thinking that I had managed to keep up to date with things during and immediately after our visitor. Only today, sitting and reading properly have I picked up, from your ltest post and others' earlier responses, that I have missed quite a lot. So much for speed reading----- I am quite horrified that your granddaughter's OH can stop her from leaving Arizona. Thank goodness that she has got both you and her Mum giving her such great support. Thinking about you all.
Brilliant poem Lindybird. Well done.
Here are a couple of images of the first ''Black'' mug I ordered.
The hot drink in the mug somehow makes the mug go white and reveals the images.
Now you see it
Now you don't.
Heather – what an interesting story ! (history). Everyone has heard of Culloden !Lynette – simply superb views of the pine marten – thank you OG – thanks for answering my question about what and what cannot be seen at the centre at LG. I’ll settle for ‘other’ nests gladly. I think we’ll all have to ask Annette for cuttings of the money tree LoLDiane – re your link :( oh for crying out loudLindy – so very pleased all your tests were clearTiger- interesting forebear you have ! marching with Bonnie (was he?) Prince Charlie at age 16 . In those days I suppose 16 was grown !!!!!! ‘’ One of the other confusions I have with Culloden is the date. Scotland changed the date of the new year to 1st January in 1600 while England did not follow suit until 1752. There must have been a period of 150 odd years where for about three months ever year the year was different on either side of the England/Scottish border. Then they worry about having a difference of 1 hour if we were to adopt different time zones.’’ Well, LoL indeed ! Reading your post of 22 Sept I see you are a true son of the British Isles!!AQ and Annette – I too am a cat lover and what lovely animals Jasper and Lightning areChloe – good luck with the HTML :) I dabbled in ASP for a while - and PHP - forgotten it all now . Margo – good for you. I’m so pleased you are gaining so much more enjoyment because of your new hearing aidsLindy – you have surpassed yourself – a great poem and it’s lovely that you are so altruisticAnnette – I am truly so very sorry for an awful family situation. It’s teeth grinding “Alan – just read your sad news. So very very sorry to hear of your SiL’s passing.
That is a brilliant poem Linda. Some deep thought on who we could help if we had unlimited resources of money.
I am afraid I was the culprit who suggested that Annette should plant a money tree to pay for her garden alterations !!
Hi everyone.Weatherwise its a bit indisicive here. Sunny at the moment but clouds lurking. There has been rain and now it looks as if it doesn't know what to do. I can't wait to see autumn in full swing. The autumn colours are always great looking. Okay I'll admit I'm a bit biased because I was born in October. LOLSpent the last couple of days in a bit of a mad panic. Despit hunting high and low, I couldn't find the charger for my camera batteries. I was completely stumped as to where it could've got to. Turns out it was stuck in a drawer, which happened to be the one place I'd forgot to look.Annette: Hope everything works out okay with your laptop. I agree with Diane that it could possibly be a power supply problem. I'm sorry to hear about your granddaughter's situation. Hope something works out.AQ: That's a lovely pic of Jasper. He certainly looks a cool cat. :-)Linda: Glad you enjoyed your lunch on Sunday. Thanks for the Money Tree poem. :-)Diane: A very happy Autumn Equinox and Full Harvest Moon to you. That's a brilliant wild turkey pic.Margobird: I'm glad you enjoyed Cornwall, and happy that you're feeling much better now.
A very Happy Wednesday to everyone.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Happy Wednesday to you too Heron. Off to work shortly. Enjoy your evenings everyone.
OK. OH off out and I'm back online before whizzing off with naughty laptop.
Cirrus: "Teeth-grinding" perfect description. Heather: Is there a time when we don't have to be so supportive? Please?? :-)
Tiger: Most stuff is backed up, but have been lazy of late....
Lindybird: Great poem. Gastro pub, eh? Sounds a bit indigestible, but not from the size of the portions. Don't you love how they give fancy names to things, then charge us more for less?
Sun is out today (didn't show up until 4:30 p.m. yesterday). But did see Jupiter again. Isn't it supposed to be brighter as it leaves its current position? Must see of the local astronomy folks are hosting star parties up at the Natural History Museum - there you can line up to look through members' very expensive equipment.
Take care all.
Evening all. I have been reading all the chat, but haven't posted for a couple of days. OH is away and I have taken the opportunity to do some research of my family tree on the internet! I have become totally hooked and have spent WAY too much time peering at the screen ... not good for me:-) I have discovered loads of interesting facts (well ... interesting to me!). I have got back to 1796 with some branches of my mother's family in Arbroath and Dundee. I have been fascinated with their occupations ... flax inspector, miller, master carpenter. I'm afraid it is totally addictive!
Heather - thoroughly enjoyed your family history ... mine is nowhere near as interesting!
Annette- sorry about your family worries ... not pleasant for those concerned, especially when she is so far away. Awful that she might be prevented from leaving Arizona.
Diane - Happy Autumn Equinox and Full Harvest Moon to you too! Love the Indiana Wild Turkey ... what a star :-)
margobird - so glad you enjoyed your holiday ... shame about your illness at the beginning. Great news about your second hearing aid!
Linda - brilliant poem ... as usual ... can I order a cutting now? :-) Two very small roast potatoes??? My OH would be horrified ... he eats like a horse ... and always hoovers half of my potatoes when we eat out!!
Cirrus - great pics of your 'magic mug'!!
Thanks to everyone else for chat, pics, links etc
Take care
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Heron: are you familiar with Michael McIntyre? The first place to look is the 'man drawer' !
Sketch is about 1min 40 secs through this clip. I think he's hilarious. Sound isn't very good at all but you will get the gist.

Joan: if you need any help with local information just ask. I live in Dundee and have BIL, SIL and their grown up families in Arbroath. Having spent years with Steed working his family history out, which included trips to Bristol, PRO in Kew, etc, I would be only too happy to help/save you a journey. If anything comes to mind, post on my page.
