HAPPY NEW WEEK and HAPPY NEW MOON!

The new moon (the dark moon) is on 20 July.

Everyone have a safe and content week!

  • Just a thought

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (Confucius)

  • Evening all: Lovely day here. Lots of laughs and general silliness. Dishwasher working overtime (no, not me - the actual dishwasher) and everyone to bed early for crack-of-dawn departure by daughter and granddaughter. Ms. D and I will have quiet day before I take her to a local drive-in movie theatre in the evening (which is now operating again thanks to Covid) This will be my second drive-in movie experience since I arrived here in 1963!.

Thanks all for news, etc. Take care.
  • Hey, folks. I have some questions. I'm asking because of two scientific theories that the world's top researchers are now beginning to evaluate. These theories may explain a lot about my current mental and physical health and maybe some of yours (for example, the extreme fatigue and the brain fog that makes logical thinking difficult). These new theories could lead to effective solutions for people.

I'm not judging your answers either way; I'm just curious. Also, don't respond if this is too personal.

    (1) Have any of you actually had a COVID-19 test to determine whether you have the infection present right now?

    (2) Have any of you actually had an antibody test to determine whether you had a past infection of the virus, possibly early in the pandemic? Perhaps you were fairly symptom free and you didn't realize you were infected at the time?

    (3) Did the U.K. perform widespread testing, especially early in the spread of the virus? I'm specifically talking about testing of people who showed no active symptoms? Or showed symptoms that had not yet been associated with COVID-19 (such as chronic fatigue syndrome).

Thanks!!! I'll explain further if I see any answers.

    Hello to all.

  • AQ - yes, progress ! So the North facing bit gets the sun. I read a long article yesterday, on Wikipedia, about Adelaide. Some of the old buildings are beautiful. I hadnt, to my shame, realised that the whole population of Australia is only about 25 million. Of course, the main centres of population are in coastal areas but even then it seems so few. I'm sorry that after a good start, covid 19 is misbehaving. Or should that be, the people carrying it are misbehaving?

    1) Not yet, but I was asked by letter to be part of a random testing survey by the Dept of Health and Social Care. Its being run by Imperial College London and Ipsos Mori, so will let you know how it goes and would love to know if anyone on here had the letter and what they decided to do. It is an Antigen test.

    2) No

    3) No

  • HARELADY: Thanks! I'd be interested in whatever info you'd like to share. Indiana recently expanded its testing--slightly--and I'm looking for a test site to get a free antibody test. Unfortunately, not much is free in U.S. healthcare.

By the way: you, Pat, Heather, and all have my empathy. I, too, have been alone and very isolated during this crisis.
  • AQ: That "Grand Design" is a beautiful home, but I have to say that it seems a little self-indulgent to me. A house that big would cost a fortune to air condition here, and I don't even want to imagine the gazillions of dollars required to heat all that space during an Indiana polar vortex winter. Phew! LOL
  • Glad to hear that HEATHER. I am looking forward to getting mine cut on Friday. Benson got his grooming last Thursday. Priorities obviously for dogs.
