As the season progresses, Laddie (LM12) continues to make occasional visits to the empty webcam nest, defending his area from passing intruders. It is hoped that both he and NC0 have a successful nest in the vicinity of the Loch.

Updates:
21st July - NC0 made an appearance on the nest, her first visit since 19th April
24th July - NC0, confirmed ring identification during a second visit to the nest

20th August - One chick for Laddie (LM12) and NC0 > successful-first-season-for-loch-of-the-lowes-ospreys

I had a wee trip to LotL today. Lovely to be back and look out on the calm of the loch. But a quiet day bird-wise, although I heard the osprey chick food soliciting once. Great-crested grebes, hirundines, a pair of swans and numerous unidentifiable ducks' bums on show. And the usual suspects at the bird feeders.
Lowes have a good idea where they nested this year but will keep it quiet, natch. Three possible reasons they think why the regular nest was abandoned - a combo of a new, maybe nervous female not as wedded to the nest as LM12, the nest being a bit trashed by the wind in the preceding days before they left it and human disturbance, although the latter thought to be human voices, albeit outside the hide (which was locked), rather than from people tramping through the reserve.
I think a new blog may be coming shortly. The new arrangements for visiting were very well organised by the staff and it was a lovely trip out.
You are right Scylla, there was a bird indeed.
I checked the DVR in slow-motion snapped the arriving bird sitting on top of dead tree.

Not sure if this has been reported already, I receive email updates from Lowes, and they mention that NC0 has left on her migration.

I think it was mentioned in the blog that NC0 left early in August, Mary. Thanks for sharing your email from Lowes
Lucky you, Korky, to have been to Lowes today! All being well, I'm hoping to 'migrate' north for a few days in late July/early August next year to visit
19:36 Juvenile just landed on the dead tree, quite vocal

20:16 DIVE! What a splash it made, both sight and sound!
Flight out from the water
It flew low, beyond the dead tree and out of sight. It made a couple of calls - I wonder if it was successful?
20:50 Back again
Flight away approx. 20:53

Thank You Korky for the report on your visit to Lowes, such a shame you didn't get a glimpse of the juvenile or LM12 though, but well worth going as it is a nice reserve to visit.
