Continued from Manton Bay – May 2020
The history of the Manton Bay nest, breeding stats and links to previous threads can be found here
The season so far: The resident pair both returned on 16 March - Blue 33(11) at 07:12 and Maya at 13:16. For the second consecutive year, Maya laid four eggs – the first on 29 March followed by another three first seen on 4, 6 and 9 April. Maya and Blue 33(11) faithfully incubated the four eggs and on day 38, the first chick hatched 6 May c13:20 followed by Chick #2 on 8 May c06:10, Chick #3 on 10 May c14:45, and Chick #4 on 13 May c20:45.
All four chicks have thrived under the protection of Maya and Blue 33(11) who has once again proved to be a fantastic provider for his family.
In two/three week’s time, the chicks will be ringed and we’ll learn a bit more about them.

Thank You Karen for starting the thread and an excellent opening post, with links to "All the things you ever wanted to know about Manton Bay".....
Maya, 5R and 33(11) have already left a legacy of returners, they certainly fall into the "Super Osprey's" category.
8 chicks over 2 seasons, is quite a feat.

18:19 Maya is feeding the chicks again!!
18:20 #4 is back for more!
cam frozen
18:22 Maya now walking away from the fish -
18:26 All chick resting - #4 appears to be snoozing off its fish
18:34 33 arrives and grabs the fish
chicks move up towards him and he starts feeding them
18:38 33 is getting a dab hand at this :-)
18:40 33 flies off with the fish leaving the chicks who appear to be picking the straw
18:42 chicks all settle down again and 33 returns. Can't see any fish in talon so he may have dropped it?
18:46 33 walks around the nest, staying for a moment before flying off
18:54 There is a fish piece at Maya's feet which the chicks spy and all move up to her.
The older chick starts to nibble at it:-)
19:09 Once more, Maya is feeding the chicks
and view from the bottom cam
19:12 she pauses - then restarts feeding them
FISH @ 19;14
33 arrives with a fish
33 starts to eat edge of nest - Maya is still feeding the chicks
19:16 33 feeds an older chick but Maya spies the fresh fish and makes a move for it
19:16 Maya takes the fish from 33
19:18 Maya starts to feed the fresh fish to the chicks
19:19 33 flies off and Maya continues feeding the chicks.
Must go for a bit - BFN
