Richard, Reading your comment I could not work out if you meant that it was arson or not arson--sorry. There has been so much rain there that if not arson, then perhaps they thought any sparks would be quenched or maybe they thought they could monitor it from a distance and watch the webcam to see if all was well. What do you think? Yesterday from Scylla's video it looked like the people had arrived in at least 2 cars but they backed out of shot before the people walked into shot and started the fire.

Well, I could quite clearly see (this time) that it is indeed land management. Dunno why I didn't suss it out from your first video Scylla and seems I inadvertently stirred up a hornets nest, sigh. Sorry

The fire seemed to wake itself up this morning, then workers came and encouraged it, then it went down... then, late afternoon, a bird landed on the campost and shortly afterwards the cam went down.  Apart from morning corvids I didn't see anyone else on the nest, but it was one of those breezy days where clouds were scudding and causing flickers of light.

A Chatter reported "I think it maybe maintenance. From 17:43:56 there are noises from the cam pole, followed by a switch off at 17:45:13" but my findings disagree.
