Beautiful female, Rutland's CJ7:
The hoped-for partner for CJ7, local male LS7, has not yet appeared. CJ has been tending the nest daily and yesterday she took everyone by surprise, producing an egg - which took us by surprise by surviving... until midnight at least ;)
IMAGICAT
Oh how I've tried, but it came to nought, and I can't even do a decent snap to help you but see an effort below. Someone, probably all of you, will recognise this bird instantly but I am humiliated... yet again
.
NO STONECHAT TODAY !!!
Richard B
A nice little video Scylla - it certainly stayed a while....
Eye stripe - my guess is a Sedge Warbler (young)
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
With the eye stripe I was thinking Whinchat, but the absence of the white flashes in the tail when wings out and the white flash in the wing all point to a female Stonechat.
Plus the nest is in the middle of a large heath.
Was just checking Richard, and I came upon Whinchat too and thought it may be that.
Found this video of female Stonechat - so do you think the one in Scylla's video is a young female
Rain from the early hours onwards - always looks dramatic on this cam :)

Because I'd just seen "something" on the recording, I assumed you meant you'd just seen it on the nest @ 06:28. I found it, but only as one frame in the air to the right of the nest, which wasn't there when I rewound back - I have been unable to home in on it - all replays, 4 different editors (2 of which it sends into unresponsive mode), it's not there. I have spent a truly ludicrous amount of time on it.
I can't belieeeve it
And now it looks as tho that was a complete misunderstanding on my part !!! But I did see a bird in the air for one frame.
Yesterday's new bird was here for nearly 5 minutes:
That's it up to 09:56.
I just refreshed the thread list page and it's hanging ominously, so I'll try to post this...
Blackbird... Stonechat... these young females are really getting us going
