Pre-trout, Seren had noticed a chick looking interestedly at the fence, so off she flew and brought back a substantial stick to reinforce:
It had just sufficient curve to save a chick from crushing injury

Large indeed!
And another inappropriate landing pad chosen
A bit of a strange feed followed...
This one stayed lying down then got up and hung around in the background:
When the bigger of the two eaters (#1?) retired and lay down, #2(?) took its place beside #3.
#3 got a good feed, mainly thru persistence and stamina - it often had to wait longer between bites but got a lot of them in the end
Dylan must have been watching from the campost, he startled everyone when he flew off:
All the chicks were lying down by 10:54, then suddenly @ 11:00 they were up again for another go
#3 didn't last long, s/he was too full :-*
Dylan took away and brought back the fish at least twice, then he brought sticks and nearly killed the chicks
In fairness, he did sort out the sticks efficiently before he left ;)
Dylan brought this very long stick:
It took a joint effort, but between them he and Seren managed to break the end off it and bash the chicks. I'm fed up with trying to clarify blurry snaps so you'll have to imagine it ;)
However, this accusation requires evidence - Seren had a solo go at infanticide when she brought back a stick:
Afternoon tea - good size, headless:
Seren fed the chicks from the front of the nest so's we couldn't see them, until Dylan came for the fish @ 17:07:
He brought it back 18 minutes later, and Seren started feeding the chicks right away, again from the front of the nest. At 18:39 Dylan dropped down vertically out of the sky and I think he managed to fly off with a small leftover but that was a total blur.
This was Seren on her babies, with pinecones, towards the end of the on-cam day:

Dylan brought in a huge piece of bark this morning

Gosh! And I've forgotten all about this nest, so I'll probably have to wait until tonight and download the whole day after it's completed on Carnyx's channel.
Dylan landed with a sticky stick on the bottom left of the nest, and tried to move another. before flying off.
He landed with a clatter
and flew off
The chicks are getting restless, nibbling, preening, looking
and the latest scene

Dylan soon returned with a fish!
09.50 a large whole fish
Dylan didn't hang around, and feeding soon started
It looks as tho #3 has either decided to bide its time, or is pinned down under ?#1
I think Dylan has just taken off from the campost - a brief clatter.
Edit:
Yay!! #3's tactic has paid off. Front of the queue now
and #3 continues to eat!
Chicks were alone and asleep as I looked in but then 5F returned She decided to move a large stick but she dropped it across the neck of the chick I've marked 1 and then picking it up again she stood on the one marked 2 She managed to place it at the edge and then a finer stick on the other sideof thenest
C Llyn Clywedog
This is the poor chick with the stick across its neck but it did manage to struggle out
It seems it happened at 13.00 I can't back on 'Chat' but John has posted
1:35 PMJohn Williams found a possible car
1:20 PMJohn Williams I'm here now, I'll phone local police
1:26 PMJohn Williams no car that I can see
13.12 5F/Seren dropped down from the campost, and continued her preening, post dip.
13.18 she brooded the chicks
13.54
13.59 a bit of housework, and a look around
14.03 back to brooding - they are a bit wriggly!
but she doesn't really settle
John was asked whether it was possible for the walker to get out without returning past the nest. He said "not easily"
14.06 she can't get them under her, or she can't settle.
14.14 she looked up quickly, is she aware of movement?
14.15 definitely on the alert
14.17 the rain gets heavier
14.25 Rain
14.35 She was suddenly very alert and flew off with an alarm call
Chicks hoe alone
14.41 5F returned
She broods, but isn't exactly relaxed, looking around her
14/44- again she calls and flies off
to be continued
