Last season Louis and Aila arrived on their nest almost at the same instant on the 4th of April. Here's to a repeat, but a few days earlier to save our anxiety.

Some oddments from yesterday, as am unable to do justice to the super commentaries, especially from IAN and CATHY :)
The first couple of hours @ 16x speed - Louis had been first in, Aila soon replaced him after he'd got fed up waitng and flown. I wonder if he skydanced but couldn't hear anything besides wind, not that it was that loud.
Video of lovely stick coming in:
A rest at dusk:
Aila sorted a stick and flew, Louis was gone a couple of minutes later. That was Goodnight.
They deserved so much more attention today, Louis was great with his nestorising and has managed to dig out an embryonic nestcup, even :-*

Well, Channel 4 clearly hadn't been watching the nest 'all day, every day', or they could have got a better clip than an empty nest (or used the clip George sent). Using a live feed was of course, slightly risky. What if Aila and Louis had been doing what comes naturally? And not even past the watershed
(Thanks Ian)
Oh dear such a shame that Channel 4 viewers weren't privvy to the wonderful antics of Louis and his nest making prowess, so well captured in Scylla's vids. Brilliant, thank you Scylla!
Channel 4 might have missed an opportunity, but a school down in Cornwall last year enjoyed life at Loch Arkaig. How wonderful to have such an engaged school, but a really pity that lockdown has stopped that. I just hope the enthusiasm continues at home!

There was some faux mantling going on after my last visit, and at some stage Aila finally got the tail end.
13.24 they are now standing on opposite sides of the nest like book ends, just surveying

Great story thanks for sharing Sheila!
15.59, Louis skydancing as Aila returns to the drookit nest with a chirp.
16.00, Louis brings in a nice fish but flies off with it. Aila called but made no attempt to take it.

16.24, Louis does the honourable thing & returns with the fish. Aila is straight onto it and flies with it. 16.35, Louis brings in a small (by recent standards) stick. Ian
