LAKE DISTRICT OSPREY PROJECTS – 2020

For me personally this is one of the saddest blogs ever written , I was there at the beginning with Craig and there at the end when Craig rang me to say Green 5Y had just been killed , so sad and needless www.ospreywatch.co.uk/.../

It was wonderful to see that 5Y had returned from migration but absolutely devastating to learn, not only of his death, but the tragic way in which it happened. As you have said, Valerie, sad and needless. I'm so sorry for everyone at LDOP but especially to you and Craig.

Such a tradgedy

I was reading about the S Lakes yesterday and I'm probably teaching grandma (and grandpa) to suck eggs but I discovered that there are 16 lakes in the area plus many tarns, The area around Windemere is what is referred to as the S Lakes. Strictly speaking, Bassenthwaite is the only one called a lake The others are meres and waterss.Althugh it is rather shallow, Bassenthwaite is the 4th largest and Esthwait the 11th . The latter was Beatrix Potter's favourite lake and one of Wordsworth's too.Wordsworth actually wrote a poem with a very long title.."Lines left upon a seat in a yew-tree which stands near the lake of Esthwaite." the scene is used for contemplation and reflections.
As an aside,friends and I believe that anybody who disdains any other living thing are not truely human and Wordsworth seems to agree. In the above poem he says, ".......he who feels contempt for any living thing hath faculties which he has never used......."
That's my penny worth!
