Very sad news from Threave.    LATEST POST FROM FRIENDS OF THREAVE OSPREYS

It is the saddest news Mary , he ringed so many osprey chicks from Threave and Loch Doon and throughout Dumfries and Galloway . Also 100's of other raptors , he will be so missed . I am just so happy he got to see and report on the arrival of Glaslyns Black 80 at Threave on 22nd March , that would have made him so happy . RIP Ciril .

Very sad news. From the various comments I have read elsewhere, he was clearly a man with a passion taught to him by his father, something which he was always willing to share, along with his many photos. What a lovely smile he had.

Those were great zoomed in shots yesterday. You’re right, Scylla, he did keep zooming in on that ribbon. Let’s hope it doesn’t cause problems when little ones are around. It gets quite blustery there - hoping a gust will blow it away.

This is very sad news, Mary. What an incredible and lovely man.

I meant to have posted these earlier but events at Lowes prevented me from doing so

I assume this was Mrs O. She was pacing around the nest (calling), backing up and appeared to be expecting another osprey to land

She flew off

And arrived back on the left perch

Onto the nest looking skyward

That's all I could capture at the time but she was still on the nest at camera switch off
