Unknown said:The nest depicted is one you can see very easily from the road, and it looks as if it's very close to the ground at the top of a wee hill. But it's in a tall oak tree (unusual), and the trunk is on sloping ground on the down-slope of the hill, so it's an illusion! I don't think the pair are ringed and as far as I can remember, none of the birds seen fishing had rings either. I think the programme also showed the Loch Rusky nest, again, visible from the road.

I have seen the Loch Rusky nest Korky, but despite travelling that road many times I haven't noticed the nest on Springwatch, will have to be more observant in the future.

Kind regards, Ann
I watched a programme on TV this morning at 0500 called "The Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes".
Amazingly it turned out to be "Series 2 Episode 9" which featured an Osprey nest in the Lake District. It was the Bassenthwaite nest.
It covered the early season preps to get the nest ready and then the return of the birds. There were 2 or 3 periods during the programme covering it.
It can be viewed on All 4, which is catchup TV by using the link HERE

A clearer picture now. I wonder when incubation will stop?
Off for a quick fly around
Close up view of the nest, one egg. What could be the 'white' bits on the bottom left? They were visible this morning but not there yesterday
Returned
Up to roll the egg
Sandra I also posted this on 24th May - wondering if there were bits of shell on the nest!
