This morning CJ descended @ 05:50 but I never saw a landing cambump prior.  She's been in 'n out of the nestcup half a dozen times, not always belly-shaping:

Patily, last year LS7 returned on 12 June as a two-year-old, so we are hoping he will come back much earlier this year. We still have one or two ospreys passing through, and an unringed male was captured by a trail camera on another platform with CJ7 a couple of days ago. He seems to have departed the area now, though. Keep those fingers crossed!

How late in the season can a pair begin breeding and still be successful?

I'm not really an expert, Greenlady, but I think the concensus for this nest is that we need the male to return by the end of April and start bonding immediately with the female. Otherwise it will probably be too late for this season. Even then, if he does return in May and they continue bonding, that should augur well for next year.

I noticed she has been on the nest quite a lot today, starting to look a little lonely sadly. Lets hope a male appears soon.
