2019 season summary: Laddie (LM12) arrived back from migration on Friday 15th March; Lassie (LM15) on Saturday 23rd March. Lassie laid 3 eggs on 4th, 7th and 10th April, hatching 11th, 12th and 16th May. Sadly, on 26th May the third chick died. The remaining two chicks were ringed on 26th June as follows: #1 Blue PT4 (M)* #2 Blue PT5 (M)*. They successfully fledged and subsequently set off for their first migration on 14th/15th August. Laddie left around the same time as the youngsters and it is thought that Lassie had already started her journey south approximately 2 weeks prior.

Both Ospreys (unringed) have been a breeding pair on this nest since 2015, after the iconic 'Lady' failed to return.

This is why I love this webcam! Apart from the more usual background sounds of the songbirds (perching birds) and the Great Spot drumming in the distance, there were the amazing popping sounds of Capercaille! Thank you so much for mentioning it - very lucky to hear the extraordinary sounds these birds can make. I think there were also some background sounds of Red Grouse doing there 'Go back' call.
Edit: If we're very lucky, maybe one of the accomplished few (you know who you are!) may post a recording for us...
Edit2: OK, may have been a bit over excited there about Capers! Forgot this is LotL, not LG, so perhaps it was a strange interference on line??? I can hear the sounds Korky was describing now (at 12:00) and they are very flutety and repetitive???

I was hearing the vocals y'all referred to and I think I put a marker so's to extract it later. But I'm flagging so it will have to be much later.
Here are Laddie's 2 flyoffs today - he's looking PERFECT :-*
See ya later :)
IMAGICAT
Recorded this around midday ... shame no Laddie present too!

YouTube just reminded me that there's a video to publish up there - it's one I did of Laddie's first morning, nothing spectacular of course ;)
This is just a practice to make sure I'm all ready to go

I have read that capercaillie have been heard at Loch of the Lowes. But I can't find a sound that replicates what I heard around 10.20.
