Manton Bay Nest Summary
The Manton Bay nest was first used in 2007 by White 08(97) and Green 5N(04) who successfully raised 2 chicks. They paired again in 2008 but the nest failed and in 2009 the nest was unused.
In 2010 a new pair, Green 5R(04) and an unringed female nicknamed Mrs 5R, took up residence and over the next four years successfully raised 11 chicks.
Green 5R(04) failed to return in 2014 resulting Mrs 5R took a new mate, Blue 28(10) and laid 3 eggs. Blue 33(11) arrived determined to claim this nest and succeeded removing Blue 28(10) and kicking out the eggs. Mrs 5R was officially named “Maya” and she spent the remainder of the year bonding with Blue 33(11).
In 2015, Maya and Blue 33(11) returned and to date have successfully raised 14 chicks including a brood of four last year - the first time seen on a public webcam. It was a pure joy to watch and a summary of the 2019 season can be viewed here.

Maya, for the second successive year, was the first osprey to return home last season arriving on March 14 and was reunited once more with Blue 33(11) when he returned on March 23.
Will she be first back again this year?
Time will tell but I am sure you will all join me in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season.
Morning Jane - I too have been practising captures. I had hoped the RSPB techies would have settled on and implemented a decent default over the winter but No we are stuck with same issues as last season. But we overcame them and will do so again this year :-) Capture size - I am putting 550 in the first box and nothing (blanking it) in the second box.

Just been thru yesterday/tonight, all I have from yesterday, apart from 2 corvids, is MrsMallard paying another visit, quite short, here she was flying off:
It's been raining quite heavily but has eased off for now.
this is a lovely picture and in my opinion the correct size for threaDS
Surely the forum is for ALL to post whatever captures they have and not be told to follow more rules of being a certain size..... I don't see how the small differences in size of captures is hurting anyone..... FGS..... Jees its enough to put you off posting

I think I've missed a post here but I wasn't suggesting everyone sticks to a certain size. I wanted to see what the difference was between mine and Karen's capture of the same image, perhaps I should have posted in the technical thread but hey ho onwards and upwards.
I was watching the gulls earlier - there was a pale speckly one who got turfed off by the Great Black-backed.
Also there's a fleeting flyby in here that I meant to do a slomo for but... forgot :(
Talking of picture sizes ;))) ...
This is the speckly gull unresized here and dragged 'n dropped into the RF. It's been thru 3 video editors and a picture handler It's probably not tooo big, due to the narrowness of the original 2 cam one on top of the other:
EDIT !!!
Hmm, pretty big!
This is resized to 500px wide, so hopefully the fuzziness won't show up as badly ???
IMAGICAT
One of last years immature gulls, out looking for whatever it can get.
