Fingers crossed I don't get sent to Moderation :o

I think the blue jay bottom deserves to go on the Bottoms Up thread scylla

  • Another video on the female albatross in NZ relieving her mate of incubation duties after 7 days away at sea

  • I am a long time lurker but I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying this thread, The captures and comments are all lovely and really interesting. A great way to pass the time until March.

Super capture, but I have to ask what bird that is, TeeJay *blush*

I've just remembered to start downloading that cam, it's mid-afternoon.

The Sydney WB Sea Eagle long-distance cam is still down.

I'm sure I've seen you around, RUSTY, I think you've broken your silence before :)

There you go, CATLADY, you are vindicated! :-*

Overnight, only rabbits again!  (I didn't notice a mouse this time but wasn't looking for one.)

In the morning the squirrels had a nice mound of seeds to themselves, there seemed to be dozens but I couldn't capture more than 6 at a time - here are only 5 because it was a better shot:

Later, a very few sessions from Starlings, found a nice mass fly-off :)

    Two crows with different taste:

    The cat passed by without a nibble - I hadn't seen it for 2-3 days/nights :o

  • TJ, Was your Hippo from a live webcam?!

    Kind regards, Ann

  • ^^^ That was up to noon-ish.  Then...

(Still practising with this dang photo editor.)

One Starling wondered what all the panic was about:

Little birds did get turns at the seeds, but suffered lots of disturbances:

Not one bird chasing another, but one fleeing behind another:

    Upstairs feeder

    Earliest:

I intended to document the various woodpeckers but all were unco-operative, half-hiding themselves or feeding at the slab above the suet slice.  Another time.

Not as many birds as usual up to noon, more afterwards but not teeming.

Heads down for a good stuff!

    Spadgers:

On its way in, this RB Woodpecker knocked off a Chickadee on the outside perch.  I shall try to register its aggressiveness.

    Last one standing:

I accidentally deleted the file containing the Carolina Wren, who was feeding on the suet slice.

The long-distance cam is still inactive but it's great that they've kept the cams going so long after the end of the eagle season.
