Whatever could have happened to this poor Mourning Dove?  Escaped from a predator?  Got tangled in twine?  It doesn't look like a congenital deformity :-/  Obviously it can still fly.

Could the dove be moulting Scylla? Reminds me of female Blackbirds who've been through heavy nesting period, look like their chests have exploded!
Good thing I didn't enter your competition as I was thinking it's a clump of grass! Lol

Gosh that is sad. Yes at first I thought it just looked like it had a touch of alopecia but then noticed it had trouble swallowing. It looks perky enough but perhaps not for much longer

Very sad Scylla, if it could be caught it might be saveable!

I thought it was a clump of grass or hay, too. But sorry I have not been regularly around. Big upsets in many areas of my life at present. Nice to check in here and see you guys.
