Whatever could have happened to this poor Mourning Dove? Escaped from a predator? Got tangled in twine? It doesn't look like a congenital deformity :-/ Obviously it can still fly.

Gosh that is sad. Yes at first I thought it just looked like it had a touch of alopecia but then noticed it had trouble swallowing. It looks perky enough but perhaps not for much longer

I thought it was a clump of grass or hay, too. But sorry I have not been regularly around. Big upsets in many areas of my life at present. Nice to check in here and see you guys.
