The 2 early birds:
A red one and a black 'n white one:
Was I told that these were Greenfinches?
On a BTO video that I skipped thru they seemed to say that Greenfinch, Siskin and Serin were similar:

Well I might have known you'd set me off on a hunt for info about the black squirrel. They're a melanistic subgroup usually of the eastern grey or fox squirrel, the result of an abnormal pigment gene. They can occur anywhere where the non-melanistic ones occur 'with the black-fur providing a thermal advantage over its non-melanistic counterpart'. Thanks to Mr Wiki and scylla for this morning's brain exercise.

A lady called Paula has (among lots of beautiful nature photos) a lovely variegated Southern Fox Squirrel on Flickr.

Ooh 'eck, a Polish "Forest Nook" feeder.
Only a brief glimpse so far because I'm trying to listen for a Peregrine hatch and that cam has a "babbling brook" - saw Robin, Blue Tit and... forgot already!
