The redpolls are getting redder:

I never post my lovely StarrRanch barn owls from southern California - they keep me busy all year round, it's a roller-coaster that quite often runs out of steam for weeks on end but one keeps going with any other cams on the Ranch (Audubon).

We're pip-watching... and waiting and waiting:

From StarrRanch SoCal BAT BOX - mostly Mexican Free-tailed, some Big Browns.

This has been empty, more-or-less, over the winter (except that a mouse "cleans" the workwork and cam once or more every night - fantastic, because "guano" used to build up on the lens and cloud our view when no-one had time to clean it)...

Anyway, last night a bat caught my eye bouncing off the box, investigation revealed Herculean efforts to get in, but once it succeeded and found no mates there, it left again

The Barn Owls have 2 thriving owlets, 4 more to go.

The Western Meadowlark still forages on the ground daily.

Here was an Evening Grosbeak, we don't see them very often:

Nuthatches and Black-capped Chickadees are reliable regulars, unusual to see 2 of the former at the same time tho.  They're versatile, making use of the hanging feeders as well as the tray - not all birds are.

I've hardly ever, if ever, seen Starlings invade the feeders but they did on the morning of the 18th - just a sample:
