Thank you Korky. It sounds quite a project. The estate released beaver a year or two ago. 60 birds over ten years starting next year, and with luck the Isle of Wight birds will meet up in a couple of years. How wonderful!

Must have been so exciting Alison, very envious here ... had just finished reading the tweet about the visit, so good that you got to see this magnificent bird!

It was, Wendy. A friend and I were on a different part of the reserve, watching an osprey, when we heard the news. Then it was a case of a 20-minute fast walk hoping the eagle wouldn’t fly away before we got there! Luckily it didn’t. Another friend was in the right place at the right time and got some cracking photos of the eagle flying in. Hopefully this will become a commoner sight over the years to come.

Hoping they spread out & breed all over South coast Alison, might even reach me here in Minster, nr Ramsgate eventually ... we have some nice chalk cliffs, home to nesting Peregrines, Kestrels & Fulmars ... would be great if someone could put up an Osprey nest!!

Congratulations, Alison, and lucky you! Were you able to get any photos? I hope you see more of them over the winter and get some fabulous photos for this thread (as well as more photos of migrating Ospreys, of course!). Like Wendy, I would love to see one eventually--I will be lobbying for more trips to the south coast...

I have got some really terrible photos! I know there’s an eagle there, but …
