Link to August thread
Aila left on 13 August and Mallie on 20 August. Rannoch failed to follow the weekly departure pattern and we're were still enjoying her noisy company on 31 August. But not so many fish for her today and perhaps Louis is encouraging her to leave.
It's been a happy nest, mostly, this season, apart from the failure to hatch of egg 2. Let's hope Aila and Louis come back next year and we see both Mallie and Rannoch again in a couple of years.
EDIT. Louis was last seem on Thursday 5 September and Rannoch on Friday 6 September.
And 'Live' Loch Arkaig Osprey nest cam is no more ..for this year.
Don't get me wrong...the switch off was expected.......and after the stalwart performance of the equipment this season...it could do with a well earned rest.
A further update from George Anderson. "First pre-season visit to the tree this week! It is very much still winter at Loch Arkaig. Thankfully all the kit, the tree and the nest have made it through unscathed. What would Aila make of the nest in this state though! All being well we will have the livestream up and running sometime around the middle of the month in good time for the expected return of the birds in early April." There are pictures of a rather bare looking nest and the camera (posted by George on 4 March at 12.11 & 12.12 respectively) on: walkingwithdaddy.com/.../ Ian
