The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

Can't resist posting another snap of this huge fish. It's a wonder Louis managed to bring it home, as he's looking rather scrawny, unlike his daughters

15.31 Rannoch returned, and still waits
and keeps and eye on things around

Rannoch was every hopefull but sadly when Mallie deemed it was light enough to carry she flew off with it, and Rannoch is left with scraps
From where I left off...
Rannoch flew off with this much of her 10:14 fish:
What a shame that the 14:46 WHOPPER was delivered in a transparent blur - Louis's open left foot stands out:
Rannoch was plumper-cropped than Mallie, I presume she didn't lose the fish she flew with earlier :)
Poor fish, but it's a beauty:
Rannoch looked on enviously:
Mallie flew with half to two-thirds of it @ 15:47, no good view of fish in flight.
Rannoch has left.

Rannoch came and ate innards:
Maybe she knew Louis was preparing a fish for her - it's good one, too:
Louis's looking well fed:
Rannoch didn't eat any before flying off with it:
Here's Louis with another headless FISH - not to be sniffed at but no-one's here... until one arrives carrying its own fish... Louis has set his fish aside and flown. So now there's a spare. What's a girl to do? OK, shout! :)
Logic* says the second arriver was Mallie, and she's started on the fish now, while Runnoch is too busy shouting still to do anything else besides hold her fish underfoot.
*And you can hold your tongue if you can't think of anything unsarcastic to say ;)
