The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

A juvie (haven't tried to work out which one) overshot the runway!
.
Must see! Not a happy nest for this period, but I'm sure they'll forget and be family again ;)
IMAGICAT
Lous is so forgiving, he soon brought another fish - only to meet the same fate at Mallie's beak !!!
Lovely evening

Rannoch waited, on 'n off, until 21:12.
Lots of flurries of these fascinating flyers:
This is one of the critters in consecutive frames - I do wish someone would ID it to put me out of my misery:

Windy weather
Thank you for the strange photo @ 11:34, KORKY :o It looks as tho the natives have been blowing darts at our osprey *eek*.
Valerie D said:Louis got away unscathed from both deliveries :)
That was such good news to log on to, VALERIE, thank you :)))
My cam came back up...
... to find (who turned out to be) Rannoch waiting:
She can look rather pretty :-*
She got a fairly small flounder and performed towards Mallie similarly to yesterday but not quite as bad.
She did her flyarounds with fish but I inexplicably left off the clips :'(
Not tooo long afterwards Mallie also got a fairly small flounder, Louis did a quick release from the foot trap. Rannoch still had her fish after her flyarounds, she's progressing apace!
Rannoch finished her fish:
Mallie flew off with hers:
The weather had worsened and Rannoch left shortly after.
To be continued...
