Link to July 2019 thread
The 2 chicks were ringed on 4 July and assessed as female. They were given ring numbers JJ0 and JJ2, and later named by popular vote as Mallie and Rannoch. Both weighed 1.49kg on ringing but will weigh a lot more now after a further month's-worth of protein-packed-piscine-parenting. The WT subsequently said they thought Mallie may be male. S/he fledged on 20 July and Rannoch on 27 July.

Ian S said:C. 10.00, Rannoch has a fish, I can't however see the delivery as I think it was in a camera buffer. Ian
It was in a cam buffer.
Rannoch had flown:
Cam recovered while Rannoch was manoeuvring herself and the fish to the back of the nest:
She eventually flew with quite a lot of fish:
IMAGICAT
Mallie came and picked at the innards:
Had a go on the perch that PATILY hadn't seen them on until recently:
A brief wait before flying:
Then it was Rannoch's turn, she also picked at the innards:
She ate this bit:
She flew from the Robin's perch, which I forgot to snap:
17.02, Louis brings in a nice & very much alive fish to an empty nest. It takes Mallie quite a while to arrive and claim the fish, Rannoch was even later in arriving. Ian
EDIT - after eating all the fish, Mallie has flown off to the pole tree (17.40 ish).
15:46 Rannoch came to nest, flew off @ 16:08.
17:02 Louis with live fish, as reported by IAN:
Nearly 2 minutes before Mallie arrived - in classic fishing mode:
Rannoch arrived:
Mallie ate all the fish and flew @ 17:40, Rannoch waited a while and for so many minutes was on 'n off the nest via the Robin's perch:
Snoozed:
Thoght there might be a fish in the offing but spotted someone:
Then Mallie dropped down from the camost !!!
Louis brought a fab FISH:
And Mallie got it !!!
There might be some innards discarded for Rannoch:
Rannoch made a move and Mallie was off !!!
Rannoch flew up to the campost and away:
Back carrying bark:
Moved some sticks:
Is waiting... ... ...
I'm not optimistic, hope to be wrong.
(The sound has gone juddery, not the problem I had before but a regular nestcam prob.)
I returned here to an empty nest so had my fingers crossed... but no fish, Rannoch had flown empty-taloned:
It's been raining most of the night, here's a raindrop just before daycam as we can't see them in the daytime:
Mist shifting in them thar hills:
No-one yet seen.
G'night :)
Birdies LG DU update.
