This is a wonderful book describing how the ospreys were first extirpated in Scotland around 1916 and then were found to return in 1954.
A number of people on the forum now have a copy so we can have a discussion about it.
Here is what the book looks like. Its ISBN number is: 9780434089109

Thanks for that recommendation, jsb, I'll be sure to watch it later on today.
Thanks jsb. I have just watched it. I did enjoy it, although it did leave me still with some questions. I know I will upset many people, but I switch off mentally when Kate Humble has her say.
Jsb Thank you very much for that.
I've just watched Birds Britannia - really enjoyed it and thanks for the recommendation. It was especially good to see interviews with Roy Dennis and George Waterston, who have previously been just names to me. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the Eagles as well.....
JSB thank you very much for informing us about this programme. I would have missed it otherwise. My favourite narrator - Bill Paterson - not watched it yet but note we have 20 days left to view. Isn't 'On Demand' wonderful? The BBC plan to take it worldwide early next year although it will not be a free service overseas. Sheila - welcome back after your difficult time - lovely to see you here again. I too have acquired a copy of this book but confess I have not yet managed to read through it. I hope to have an opportunity to read it towards the end of this year, beginning of next but am not in a rush, as I know I will get round to reading it especially given the historical ties with LG.

I look forward to your comments on the book Emma.
Question is...who was this? In the programme at about 54.22
and a frame before
I have taken these captures from the programme too...
Not too much difficulty recognising this bird....and the chicks?
and
This nest?
