LOCH ARKAIG (c)The Woodland Trust - MAY 2019

Serene at this moment ;)

IMAGICAT

  • Scylla, the first egg was laid on 23 April, add say 35 days would be around 28 May. Ian
  • Aila nibbling bark and calling for fish Now preening
  • Fish delivery at around 4.40, Aila initially seemed completely disinterested. She didn't make any serious attempt to take the fish so Louis just ate it on the nest. Ian

  • Aila's back with a tiny twiggy piece, walking around Louis, who hasn't moved, and Aila has now flown.

    IMAGICAT

  • She's back with another small "stick".

She's shifting sticks, now Louis is up... and off.

    IMAGICAT

  • Very SKETCHY CATCHUP from yesterday evening

On her return, Aila stood here for 10 minutes:

Then spent 3 minutes getting Louis to move by various tactics:

Poop time - you can tell she's not overfed!

    A peaceful night ensued :)

Louis brought a tailend but Aila flew:

When she returned Louis wouldn't let her have it :o

He ate the lot then did some feaking and stick-shifting and flew (I won't bother with a blurry fly-off):

Aila didn't seem to be bovvered, she preened and nibbled something with her eyes closed:

She flew off and Louis flew in:

    Aila back with bark:

This is where I said that she walked around Louis, and despite her tripping over him he wouldn't get up so she flew off!

She returned with bark, stickified and this time got him off with her tail:

    Next he brought "dirt":

    And Aila flew again!

And Louis took over with a flourish:

Aila did a zip-by while Louis was still settling - this is the only instant that shows her in a snap:

I won't be mean - here she was:

This morning it took FIVE tries for Aila to get Louis off the eggs:

    Louis with small sturdy stick:

    Faffed and off again:

    Another stick:

    And off again:

    Someone up there:

    .

    Aila still awaits breakfish :'(

    IMAGICAT

  • Lovely snaps thank you scylla. As you say, she doesn’t look overfed.
  • BIRDIE thoughtfully (typically!) offered:

let me know if I can be of any assistance recording this nest.

Lots of cogitations and manipulations going on here, BIRDIE, which I won't bore our public with - but I'll PM you when I next wake up ;)

Thank you for your kind offer :-*

    IMAGICAT

  • Nodding off again:

After a couple of hours of not-very-heavy reain, Aila got a chunky half-FISH:

On her return she got Louis up with a curly stick:

    That's it up to 15:39.
