Hi everyone, It was quite a day yesterday. Titch showing off his flying skills, landings not so good
Didn't see much as was out for most of the morning. Afternoon had its moments, with fish deliveries, intruder alerts, and flying practice In all a typical osprey family day again.
What will tomorrow bring!!!! Titch is home alone, EJ , after a late night snack with junior, flew off about 11pm to roost. The other two are probably nearbye but Junior still prefers the safety of the nest.
Happy viewing night shift and we do value all your contributions as it keeps us informed of whats gone on or not as the case may be overnight. Hope I'm not being pompous about that.
Take care all. Night, night.

Back again, I see not too much has happened since last on. Mind you the weather doesn't help. Two on the nest but which one is which. My guess is - Middle one on nest, Titch on branch on the right side.
Also tomorrow I shall put up the chicks stats, with some guidance about timing of visits to LG in August, so as not to miss the young birds before they migrate, However based on Roy's book, pps 79,80, the forecast would be for all the chicks to leave by 22nd August, a week earlier than last year, So does anyone have a reference of migration age which is more than 11 to 12 weeks i.e. 84 days say? Mallachie left on 29th Aug 2009, but at the moment I am not sure how old she was and I cannot access Tiger's spreadsheet, although I am working on it. Windows 7 seems to be blocking it.
I am trying to warn those making a long journey to LG, to ensure that they do not arrive after all the action is over.
After posting this I shall look at the archives for the hatching of the second egg last year.

Not sure who came onto the nest, think it was the eldest but it is off again. Both of the lads watched it go.
Someone is calling out there, think it is eldest as Middle and Titch are quiet and watching what is going on.
RE THE ABOVE, Mallachie hatched on 24th May , which makes #2 who hatched 23rd May this year almost chronologically the same. So was Mallachie a 'late developer' or are Roy's estimates too tight. That would make Mallachie 97 days old, at migration. #3 will be 97 days old on 31st August.
So as I said, if anyone can find other references about age at migration, that would be helpful, I tried a couple of times today to no avail.
Pretty sure that was Junior going off for a flyabout as he chirrupped as he practised his wings and he has just flown in again and chirruped to himself. And there's no stopping him he's off again.
Or maybe it was Middle, and he sounded like Junior just to fool us. It could very well be Titch on the side branch to the right but not absolutely certain.

Hello, Lynette.
I'm pretty sure it's middle one just flown off and Tiny on right who's just flapped his wings as I'm writing this!
It's been an exciting day for fish, identification and flying - not to mention the lovely rain!!
