I thought I'd start this thread so that, as I said to TIGER, we can feel free to embarrass ourselves asking each other how to do things, and generally experiment. Hopefully someone will, in the absence of dear MrsT, be able to delete this thread if necessary:
First of all, here is how to start a new THREAD - look at the top right of the page:
It works much the same as before, except it doesn't default to Upload but to URL.
This is where I inserted the image:

Hello!!! Hmmm? Well, I'm logged in, but I'm not sure whether this is replying to Scylla's reply of six minutes ago, or a new comment. Let's see.

OK, so how to I post back to the margin, rather than a sub-head?
Hi dear SHEILA !!! One time I did find an empty Reply box that wasn't attached to a previous post, but can't any more.
Which is a disaster, cos I want to report that in a separate post, plus something else I've discovered that is a disaster :o
And I'd like to disable the smilies, too, they get in the way of busy people.
Work in progress I think. I will lurk for a while to see if it becomes more intuitive.
Just checking how to post pics
Also I have another complaint about this new look forum. My signature at the end of each of my posts was saved so Regards Ian always appeared at the end of all my posts. Now that’s disappeared and I have now have to type out at the end of my post that signature of my name.
Regards,
Ian.
I expect signatures will emerge eventually, or we'll have to do new ones. That's not the main beef - my main beef is Where do I report a serious issue?
THOMO ~ the Loch Garten osprey diary is the link to the blogs.
Again I managed to find where you can report a seriou issue, but I found it by accident. Again that is not user friendly. It should have been made easy to find straight away. You have to press on more under your post and report an issue appears.
Flop ! it's all very confusing but hello Scylla and Thomo..... later !
Not for me it doesn't, THOMO, I already tried that. This is what I see:
