I'm not sure why a 17 year old osprey is given such hype (EJ, Green J, Lady is/were all older and still laying), but the figures for thee New Jersey population is interesting..here
In 2017, there were 668 active osprey nests in New Jersey, according to the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey’s Osprey Report.
That’s up from 515 in 2016. In 2017, researchers determined the outcome of 519 nesting pairs, which produced 892 young ospreys, the most ever recorded in the project’s history.
Edit Oh, that's interesting a hyperlink came over with the copy and paste, and you can (possibly) download a pdf of the report!

Oh SHEILA (again) How fascinating Won't it be wonderful when we can boast of the same success in Scotland, England, and Wales? (Would be lovely to hear of them in Ireland too)
Deleted wrong thread.

Good question Starling. She wasn't chipping and didn't seem to be alarm calling, and backed off the eggs - I was expecting a fish but then he (?) dipped down, fishless and tried to land on her or the nest, but didn't and flew off. I thought 'the look' meant 'where's the fish?' not 'who are you?' - I thought therefore it was George but, not sure now!
